While you're at Boo at the Zoo this Saturday, October 24, be sure to snap a pic with Ernie the Elf! In honor of the Keebler® Spookie Fudge Stripes® Safari scavenger hunt that is happening through the end of the month, Ernie will be making a special appearance at our popular trick-or-treating event.

Now through October 31, you can scan the QR code on scavenger hunt signage throughout the Zoo, and you’ll be prompted to find the stripes among our animal residents. Log your discoveries for a chance to win an annual Zoo membership and a behind-the-scenes animal experience for the whole family. It’s a magical celebration of all things stripes, fudge, and spookie fun!

Welcome, Missy! This 33-year-old chimpanzee transferred from the Oregon Zoo recently, and today she made her debut in the main habitat. Missy took her time getting to know her surroundings this morning, but she was patiently guided by Doug, Pablo, and another newcomer, Millie!

The care team tells us that Missy is known for her intelligence and ability to build strong relationships with other chimpanzees. She enjoys participating in training and interacting with enrichment, and Missy has been observed grooming with Doug and Pablo frequently.

Introductions with other members of the troop will continue in the coming weeks. You can learn more about all of the ape residents at our daily 1 pm chat!

🌟 Veterinary Technician Week Spotlight: Randy 🌟

"My favorite part of my job has many answers, I think, but if I had to narrow it down to one thing I would say the variety. Not just all the varieties of animals I get to help, but the variety of ways in which my job allows me to help them. I can be cleaning up after them, filling a medication, taking a radiograph, phlebotomy, laser therapy, all these things and more that my team and I do every day, big or small helps improve the lives of our animals."
