Kitten season is in full swing and we urgently need your help! 🐾🍼 Since April 1st, we have sent 118 bottle baby kittens, and 510 total kittens and cats into foster homes!

Right now, 72% of the foster pets we are sending out will need at least four weeks of care before they are ready for adoption. With warmer weather arriving, those numbers are only going to keep climbing.

Our supply shelves are getting dangerously low and we need the community’s help to keep these tiny babies fed, safe and healthy. Right now, our biggest needs are:

🍼 Nursing bottles
🐱 Playpens
🚗 Cat carriers
🥣 Royal Canin Mother & Baby Cat dry food
🍗 Ge**er chicken baby food

At the moment, we have less than 10 nursing bottles left and only 6 playpens remaining.

Every donated item directly helps save kitten lives and supports the amazing foster families caring for them around the clock. We are so grateful for every person who helps us get through kitten season each year. 💙

One week later and we are still buzzing from our 2nd Annual Patio Party Benefit Concert! 🎶🐾

Kansas City absolutely showed up for the pets. With over 300 attendees, and more than $40,000 raised for the animals in our care, this night was beyond anything we imagined. 💙

A huge shoutout to our incredible musical acts, Post S*x Nachos, Big Fat Cow, and Jillian Riscoe for bringing the energy all night long. We are so grateful to everyone who attended, volunteered, donated, sponsored, and supported this event in any way. Seeing our community come together for homeless pets is something we will never take for granted.

These are just a few of the amazing moments from the evening. We had so much fun and already cannot wait to do it again next year! 🐶🎉

KC Pet Project is joining Warners Stellian Appliances for Paw It Forward, a feel good event dedicated to helping shelter pets while having a little fun along the way! Stop by the Warners Stellian Leawood Showroom tomorrow, May 30th, from 11AM to 1PM to meet adorable foster pets, shop our KC Pet Project pop up, enjoy refreshments, get a custom pet caricature, and learn more about ways you can support animals in need. 💙

We’ll also be collecting donations for Stock the Shelter through May 30, so bring along any shelter supplies including collars and leashes, wet cat food, blankets, towels or other pet supplies if you’d like to help pets in our care.

Guests can also bring a donation or purchase a raffle ticket for a chance to win a Speed Queen Pet Plus laundry pair. 🐶✨

Well behaved dogs on leashes are welcome and we can’t wait to see you there!

WOW, Kansas City! 🥹💙🐾 We asked for your help, and you showed up!

During our Memorial Day Adoption Special, 234 pets found homes of their own, including 2 guinea pigs, 97 cats, and 135 dogs! That’s a 24% increase from last year and we could not be more excited for every single pet and person who found their match this weekend. 🎉

The photos in this post show just a few of the amazing new families who found a new best friend. Thank you to everyone who adopted, shared our posts, cheered us on, and helped make this weekend so special for the pets in our care! 🐶🐱

🚨 We need your help, Kansas City. 🚨

Over the last 5 days, we’ve taken in 135 dogs.
21 of those arrived overnight.

Right now, our shelter is completely full, and we’re heading into a very long overnight intake period with no open dog space available today.

This weekend, we’re hoping our community can help create some breathing room for pets waiting at the shelter. 💙

From May 22–25, adoption fees are waived for all pets 6 months and older at our main campus in Swope Park.

If you’ve been thinking about adopting, fostering, or even sharing this post, now is the time. Every adoption and every foster home helps us care for the next pet who comes through our doors.

And one important reminder: while adoption specials help pets find homes faster, they do not mean the shelter suddenly has unlimited space or instant turnaround for incoming pets. Our teams are still managing an overwhelming number of animals arriving every single day.

Kansas City always shows up for pets when it matters most. Let’s do it again. 🐾

TODAY IS THE DAY!! 💙 Our 2nd Annual Patio Party Benefit Concert is tonight!

KC Pet Project will close early at 3 PM today to begin preparing for the event. 🐾

We will still be open for adoptions from 12 PM to 3 PM for the start of our Memorial Day adoption special. During this special, adoption fees will be waived for all pets 6 months and older at the KC Pet Project - Main Campus in Swope Park and living in foster homes.
