Scott Poore continues to create content that connects with dog lovers and the Kansas City community. Whether he’s sharing the stories of animals in need through On A Mission KC, introducing new KC-inspired treats from Kansas City Dog Treats Co., or opening up about mental health through Twenty Percent, there’s always something worth reading, sharing, or thinking about. No matter the topic, chances are something he shares will hit home.

This week, the whole country is talking about shelter dogs — and I love that. 🐾

It's National Adoption Week, and this year's message is one that's close to my heart: give big dogs a second look. The big, goofy, wonderful dogs are the ones who wait the longest in shelters. I've known that for years in this work, and now there's a national report to back it up — large dogs spent 70% more time in shelters than small dogs last year.

So here's my ask, Kansas City: show me your big dogs. 💛

If you share your life with a big rescue — the kind of dog everybody walked past, the one who took a little longer to find home — drop their photo in the comments. I want to celebrate them this week. Tell me their name and where you found each other.

This community — all of you who follow along, support this brand, and open your homes to shelter dogs — is why I do what I do. Every bag of treats I sell keeps that mission work going. Thank you for being the kind of people who give big dogs a second look.

And if a big dog just found their way to you this week? Congratulations. 🥹 Our treats make a pretty great welcome-home gift.

We’re getting closer to launching something we believe the animal welfare community truly needs: more affordable access to therapy for the people who care for animals every day.

The response so far has been incredibly meaningful. So many people have reached out to share their interest and talk about what they’re going through. Those conversations are reminding us that behind the work of helping animals are people carrying stress, grief, compassion fatigue, and trauma of their own.

We’re building this campaign with care, and every step forward brings us closer to connecting animal welfare staff and volunteers with support they can access. We’re grateful to everyone who has reached out, encouraged us, or helped spread the word.

Because helping people get support helps them keep helping animals. ❤️🐾

More updates soon. We’re getting closer.

People ask me sometimes why a guy who spends his life doing animal rescue started a dog treat company.

Here's the honest answer: the treats *are* part of the mission.

For years, my life has been the shelters, the kennels, the dogs in this city who have nobody in their corner. That work is everything to me — but it doesn't run on good intentions. It runs on support. On people showing up.

That's what Kansas City Dog Treats Co. really is. It's a way for more people to show up.

Every bag you buy supports a local founder whose whole life is animal welfare — and you're not just donating, either. You're getting something in return: treats made right here in Kansas City, each bag celebrating something iconic about this city, for your own dog or as a gift for someone whose dog is their whole world.

So I'm asking, plain and simple: if you believe in this work, support it. Buy a bag. Gift a bag. Share this post. Every bit of it keeps the mission moving.

And since this week is National Adoption Week — if you've been thinking about adding a dog to your family, go meet one. There's a good dog in a KC shelter right now waiting for exactly you.

Thank you for standing with me. And thank you for standing with them. 🐾❤️

I had a really interesting conversation with my friend Katie about her dog, Birdie, and the progress they’ve made together.

Birdie used to be incredibly reactive, which made social situations challenging for both of them. That made her a great candidate for training at Zoom Room. With support from the trainers, Birdie has made amazing progress—and Katie has grown more confident right alongside her.

Birdie’s story is one of many examples of dogs working through challenges and finding success with the right support. It’s wonderful to see how training has helped them feel more confident in all kinds of situations.

If you and your dog could use some support, reach out to Zoom Room and ask about getting started. 🐾

For nearly 400 days, Daisy has begged, cried, and waited for someone to simply notice her. 💔

Before arriving at the shelter, Daisy endured years of neglect. She was rescued from bad living conditions, where she had been kept in a basement. Her body tells a story of its own, showing signs that she has been a mother before.

She was rescued from a life of neglect, but instead of finding the love and comfort she deserved, she has spent over a year behind shelter walls.

At 7/8 years old, Daisy is considered a senior. And the stress of shelter life is becoming painfully obvious. She cries, she begs for attention, and she watches people pass by, hoping someone will finally stop for her.

The heartbreaking part is that Daisy is doing everything right, yet somehow, it's still not enough to get her chosen.

She loves people. She knows how to fetch, and playing fetch is one of the things she looks forward to most.

Daisy shares her kennel with another female dog and has also done well with male dogs.

She isn't asking for much. Just a home where she can finally feel safe, a family who will love her, and a chance to experience the life she has been denied for so long.

Daisy has already lost so many years of her life. How many more must she spend waiting for someone to see her?

There's no city like Kansas City — and no dog like a Kansas City dog. 🐾

This town shows up for its own. This Sunday is a perfect example: the KC Current take on the Washington Spirit at 4:00 PM at CPKC Stadium, playing for a playoff spot and home-field advantage — and then it's Chiefs game-day watch-party time that night. (And yes, the Touchdown Treats are already stocked for the watch party. 🏈)

I started Kansas City Dog Treats Co. for exactly that reason — every bag celebrates something iconic about this city we love, from the Plaza lights to the ballpark. When you grab a bag, you're not ordering from some giant warehouse. You're supporting a KC founder, KC shelters, and the mission work that keeps shelter dogs in loving homes. ❤️💙

That's what shop local means to me. Thank you, Kansas City.

October is Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog Month — and honestly, it's the month that explains why this company exists.

Long before there was a Kansas City Dog Treats Co., there were just the dogs. The ones sitting in kennels, waiting for somebody to notice them. That work is still the best part of my life, and it's why every bag we make is tied to this city and the animals in it.

When you buy a bag of our treats, you're not just treating your dog. You're backing the mission work right here in Kansas City — and you're helping a small, local business hold its own against some very big competition.

So tonight, two things:
🐾 If you've been thinking about adding a dog to your family, go meet one at a shelter. There's a perfect one waiting.
🎁 And if there's a dog lover in your life, a bag of treats from a local company that gives back makes a pretty great gift — or grab one for your own pup, just because.

Thank you for supporting me. And thank you for supporting them.

I had the opportunity to sit down with Katie Howard, a Zoom Room client, to hear about her experience in her own words. She shares how she discovered Zoom Room and what the process was like when she and her dog got started.

It’s helpful to hear a client’s perspective when you’re considering something new for your own dog. I hope you’ll watch our conversation, learn more about Katie’s experience, and show Zoom Room some support! 🐾

An update on Filafia ❤️

Yesterday, we shared Filafia’s story and asked for help with her medical bills. So far, we’ve raised just $145 toward our $800 goal.

We know times are tough, and we understand that not everyone is able to give. But if you can find it in your heart to donate even a few dollars, it can help KC Pet Project provide Filafia with the care she needs. She was found living on the streets and is facing surgery for two cherry eyes, a painful skin allergy, and a broken leg discovered after her video was taken.

Every donation helps. If you can’t give right now, sharing Filafia’s story could help it reach someone who can. She deserves the chance to heal and feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. ❤️🐾
