Hello, all my adoring fans!

Welcome to all the newcomers and to everyone else, thanks for sticking around! I have recently been very busy tending to my mama, who has been battling some serious health related issues. If you could please put your paws together and send healing thoughts her way, I'd really appreciate it.

For those that are new, my name is Splinter! I'm not exactly sure what my mix is, but we think maybe Maltese and Yorkie. Yorkamalt? Malkie? Who knows. In late July of 2018, I was hit by a car. The cruel person didn't even stop, but a really nice guy in the parking lot rushed me to Wayside Waifs for help. I was only a baby at the time, so the car did a lot of damage to by tiny body. It was determined that one of my front legs was not salvageable. Dr. Kelly did an amazing job with my amputation, and I went to live with my foster for about 6 months. The other dog in the home wasn't my biggest fan, so even though my foster really wanted me to stay, we had to search for my forever family. I found the Brown's and never looked back! Today, I am thriving. My favorite things to do are cuddle, play in the backyard and chew on bones. Thanks to Wayside, my life was saved, and I was able to live a normal life of a rescue pup!

STRUTT IS BACK!!!!
Please consider joining our team, and check back here for updates!

Splinter arrived at Wayside Waifs in late August of 2019, and was badly injured. It appeared that he'd been hit by a car, and at only 4 pounds, his tiny body suffered greatly. One of his front legs could not be saved, so Dr. Kelley and the veterinary team at Wayside performed a full amputation.

Last call! I am making a short montage of Team Splinter's supporters and participants of Strutt With Your Mutt! If you'd like to be included, please text/message me a picture or a video that is 30 seconds or less. You can be showing off your Strutt racing number, giving a shout out, holding up a Team Splinter sign, or shooting a video of you and your animal being active for Strutt week! I MUST have all submissions by 2pm tomorrow! Below is Splinter around Christmas last year experiencing his first snow with his foster brothers!

You GUYS... we're in the running for largest Strutt team this year! Wouldn't that be amazing if we won on an anniversary year? There's still time sign up or to donate to the cause! Your contributions will help more animals like Splinter to receive life-saving procedures and medical care by Wayside's clinic staff!

We're almost to the starting line, everyone! Thank you all so much for your donations so far. If you signed up to be a 5k partner for Team Splinter, the below photo is your next steps. Everyone else is welcome to join in! Take videos and photos of you and your furry family members being active. Make sure to say you're with Team Splinter in your video, or you have some sort of sign in your picture. Then, email them to me at [email protected] on or before September 12th. I will be making a montage to commemorate the event. Happy Strutting! GO TEAM SPLINTER!!!

One year ago today... tiny Splinter (around 4 pounds at the time) came home with me to recover from amputation. The Wayside medical team were able to pull off a fantastic procedure. I then started the socialization process with Floyd, a "Confidence College" behavior foster who was there to show Splinter the ropes. Their friendship was one of the most gentle, beautiful things I've ever seen. I can't wait til they can reunite for a play date some day!
