Can we please, for the love, normalize white and light-colored kittens having yellow fur, feet and yellow mustaches between 4 and 14+ weeks old?
They stand in their food. They walk through litter boxes. They wear half their dinner on their face. They have approximately zero concern for looking presentable.
They are babies. They are messy. They are not fresh out of a shampoo commercial.
I’m all about real here.
And no, yellow feet and food mustaches do not mean they live in filth. Not in this house.
Because here’s a little shock factor for you: if the environment itself were dirty, you’d probably see the moms walking around covered in yellow too.
But weirdly enough… they aren’t.
Maybe because adult cats are significantly better at grooming themselves and generally don’t bathe their entire bodies in dinner, stand in their food bowls, or wrestle their siblings directly into the litter box for entertainment.
The kittens, however, have not yet received that memo.
And I promise you, the dark kittens are stained too. You just can’t see it because… well… they’re dark. White fur simply has the audacity to document every bad decision.
And lighting makes a HUGE difference. Ring lights especially have a wonderful little talent for enhancing every possible color that exists in that fur. So something that looks slightly cream or yellow in normal lighting can suddenly look like that kitten dipped its feet in a bucket of mustard the second the ring light comes on.
What it does mean is they are WELL fed and far too busy having the time of their lives wrestling, playing, eating, and making an absolute mess with their siblings while they still can. They only get this little window together before they all part ways and head off to their own families for life. I’m going to let them enjoy it.
And I ain’t got the time to give everybody a full spa treatment before every video and picture just so the internet can pretend baby kittens are naturally pristine 24/7.
And before anyone suggests special whitening shampoo, been there, tried that. In my experience, it really doesn’t work all that well on this kind of staining anyway.
Sometimes the solution is not another bath.
Sometimes they just need to mature, grow up, learn how to eat without wearing it, and stop treating the litter box like a wrestling arena.
The day WILL come when those little feet are white and puuuurfectly clean.
Most of the time.
If yellow feet and yellow mustaches bother you, please go find a kitten that has been run through ChatGPT first.
Otherwise, take your complaint directly to the big man himself because I did not invent white fur, nor did I give kittens the instinct to wear their food and then try to bury it when they’re done.

And yes! Your kittens will arrive to you clean, with as much of the yellow out as I can! Shampoo’s have disappointed me in this regard!
