So in case you figured out that Gracie had four puppies and only three left you would be right. Introducing Princess of Gracie Sioux aka Princess. She is the only little girl Gracie had out of 12 puppies! She is the apple of this mommy’s eye! She was going to be my next breeder when she was ready in a couple years but that dream died yesterday.
She has always leaked a little if you know what I mean. The puppies bed was always wet. But with four puppies, it was hard to tell who was leaking in the bed. Now that all are gone, except Princess it was obvious it’s her plus you can visually see the leakage. So she went to the vet yesterday for her last round of shots, and it was determined that she has got a valve that bypasses her bladder and goes straight to her urethra as a birth defect. This is going to involve specialists out of state and a very serious surgery to repair. Once this is fixed. She will be a happy little girl and you’ll never know anything was wrong with her.
Unfortunately, this also means that it’s congenital and the possibility of passing this onto one of her offspring is high so I will not be able to breed her so it is with a broken heart that I may have to end my French bulldog breeding career. I know there are breeders who number one wouldn’t divulge this information but number two would not let it influence breeding her. I have chosen to be a responsible breeder. I don’t want anybody else to go through this not to mention the expense is going to be astronomical. I think from this point on I am going to let somebody else do the breeding and I will just enjoy the kiddos that I’ve got.
I will continue to post everything as we go through this procedure and process. She is such a happy little girl and she carries her daddy’s fluer de le on her head which cracks me up. I will have to try to get a good picture of this because I didn’t think that it would carry over to the little girls 🤣
