This National Veterinary Technician Week, we're celebrating the incredible Associates who make our hospitals thrive — like Karen, who began as a CSR and never stopped growing and like Joanne, who sought mentorship and support to obtain her VTNE.

At VCA, we're proud to champion our veterinary technicians every step of the way — offering mentorship, encouragement, and the resources to help you reach your full potential.

To every vet tech in our VCA family: thank you. What you do matters deeply — to our teams, to our patients, and to the pet owners who trust us with their most beloved companions.

Every surgery starts long before the first incision. It starts with a veterinary technician who has spent years mastering their skills, anticipating needs, monitoring vitals, and showing up fully prepared for every patient who comes through the door.

Vet techs are the heart of every OR team, and their skill and dedication make a difference every single day. At some VCA specialty hospitals, we take surgical collaboration even further. Some of our teams include Certified Surgical Technologists (CSTs) — professionals who earned specialized degrees specifically to support surgeons in the OR.

The result? Less time under anesthesia. Better outcomes. And a team that truly works as one. 💙

Because every patient is somebody's pet — and they deserve nothing less than the best.

September is also Responsible Dog Ownership Month! 🐾❤️

Being a great dog parent goes beyond belly rubs and daily walks—it’s about giving our pups the care they need to live long, happy, and pain-free lives.

Here is a quick Responsible Dog Parent Checklist to review this month:

🏥 Annual/Semi-Annual Wellness Checks: Regular exams help catch health issues before they become serious.

🛡️ Year-Round Parasite Prevention: Keep flea, tick, and heartworm preventatives up to date every single month.

🏷️ ID & Microchip Check: Ensure your dog’s microchip is registered and your contact info is current!

🦷 Dental & Joint Care: Routine dental cleanings and weight management protect long-term mobility and comfort.

🎾 Mental & Physical Enrichment: Daily walks, puzzle toys, and positive training keep minds sharp and tails wagging.

How many can you check off for your pup? Let’s work together to keep our four-legged family members thriving! Our Care Club program helps check many of those items off the list!

Did you know September is Happy Healthy Cat Month? 🐾✨

Cats are absolute masters at hiding illness and discomfort. Because they often keep symptoms subtle, routine wellness exams are essential to catching potential health issues early—from dental disease to kidney health and arthritis.

Here are 3 easy ways to keep your feline friend thriving this month:

1. Schedule their annual or semi-annual exam: Preventative bloodwork and physical checks keep them one step ahead.

2. Encourage hydration: Add a water fountain or incorporate wet food to support urinary health.

3. Daily mental enrichment: 10–15 minutes of interactive playtime keeps indoor cats active and stress-free!

Is your feline companion due for their checkup? We’re here to help make vet visits as calm and low-stress as possible.

Honoring the Heroes of 9/11 🕊️🐾

Today, we join our nation in solemn remembrance of the tragic events of September 11, 2001. We honor the innocent lives lost and the extraordinary bravery of our first responders, firefighters, police officers, and medical personnel.

As an animal healthcare family, we also hold a special place in our hearts for the over 300 Search and Rescue (SAR), detection, and therapy dogs who worked tirelessly at Ground Zero, the Pentagon, and Shanksville. Their bravery, devotion, and tireless comfort brought hope in the darkest hours.

Today and every day, we remember their service and sacrifice.

May we never forget. 🇺🇸❤️

We are so full of gratitude for clients like Salem's family who have trusted us with his care for years. We're thrilled he is doing so well! ❤️

"Salem’s been visiting the VCA for years for a variety of reasons! In the most recent visits, he started showing signs of early dental disease and we scheduled him for a cleaning and partial removal. The care team was incredibly communicative and took great care of him and he’s been very healthy since!"
