Rylie found a stray cat on the street in Hawaiʻi and fell in love. After we checked to make sure the kitty didn’t belong to anyone, she adopted her, and Fly Hawaii Cats helped fly her new companion home to her.

There’s a Hawaiian concept called makawalu, literally “eight eyes”- a way of looking beyond a single perspective and seeing something from many different angles. 🌺

Roo’s story is a beautiful reminder of what can happen when we look again…

Some saw a sick stray.
Others saw a sick stray that could become healthy.
And because they did, we all get to see Roo. ❤️

Roo came into Aloha animal alliance spay/neuter clinic after a caring community member found her among stray and abandoned cats in a local parking lot.

She was severely malnourished, beginning to shut down, and barely responsive except for a few quiet meows… No one knew if she was going to make it.

But they gave her a chance anyway. ❤️

And slowly, Roo started showing everyone just how much life was still inside that tiny body!

In foster care with natsfurbabies , the fragile little cat from the clinic became a total love bug…
She wanted to play.
She wanted cuddles.
She loved people, other animals, and especially her foster’s biggest dog, Smokey. 🥹❤️

The sick stray was never all that Roo was. She just needed someone willing to see what else could be possible.

With the help of an entire chain of people and rescue partners who believed in her, Roo recovered and eventually flew all the way from Hawaiʻi to California in search of her forever person. ✈️❤️

Today, she’s at Whiskers & W**e Cafe, snuggling other cats, sleeping in silly positions, and waiting for her final destination… a soft place to land and call home. 🏡❤️

Could it be you?

Come meet Roo at Whiskers & W**e | San Diego Cat Cafe & W**e Bar or share her story and help her find the person she came all this way to meet. 🐾

Reminder of what we do!

If you’re flying from Hawaiʻi to the mainland, sign up to become a Flight Volunteer at FlyHawaiiCats.com

Hawaiʻi has thousands of homeless cats and not enough adoptive homes.
Many healthy, friendly cats need to travel to the mainland to find families.

We partner with rescues and independent rescuers across the islands.
Cats receive veterinary care and are matched with adopters or rescue partners on the mainland.
We recruit volunteer travelers through Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Reddit, and our website.
Volunteers are already flying:They simply es**rt a cat in the cabin while we handle the logistics.

Every flight saves a life and makes room for another rescue.
It takes an entire community working together to give Hawaiʻi’s cats a second chance.

One flight can change a life. 🐾✈️
