ISO A Good Horse:
We don’t board and aren’t a lesson barn. We keep our horses at home on our farm in Julian, North Carolina, and caring for our animals is top priority.

I am looking for a quiet, willing partner for my 11 year old daughter and I to learn and grow with. We have kept horses for over a decade, and have one older mare. She’s a gem, bombproof in every sense of the word, and quite happy to be queen of the goat herd! It’s just that we are currently horse sharing, and we need another mount!

-Within an hour of Julian, NC 27283

-15+ hands, under 15 years old.

-A gelding is preferred but not required.

-Solid feet, able to go barefoot when in light work and not on rough terrain

-Safe safe safe is a must. My daughter handles the barn chores independently every evening.

-No projects or green broke horses.

-Calm but not a deadhead or total push ride

-Big plus if they’ve been exposed to chickens, goats or other livestock. Will eventually be pastured with the goat herd and our livestock guardian dog.

-Daughter is interested in jumping, I am interested in dressage, but we mostly ride around the farm’s trails and fields at home.

-No vices, no loading problems. Just a solid citizen with a kind heart.

-Need a been there and done that horse that can sit for a month if life gets busy and then be the same horse when I hop on to ride. Not looking for something that needs to be lounged to work out the kinks, etc.

-Not too bossy: our current mare is bottom of the totem pole and easily pushed around and run off from hay/food.

-Easy to fit a saddle to preferably. We use a saddle fitter for our horses to make sure they have the most comfortable fit.

-Color, breed and papers aren’t super important to me.

I have vet references from our horse vet for over a decade, and I’m open to farm visits. A trial period would be great to make sure it is a good fit.

Decompressing from shelter life. Tater is still looking for a place to call home! She loves to snuggle. Despite her rough start, she is very sweet and learning how to be a good girl very quickly ❤️

Tater is looking for her forever home 💕
We are fostering for Kora’s Rescue Ranch.
Little Tater was quite malnourished when she was picked up as a stray, but is filling out now that she’s getting regular meals.

✅ Crate trained
✅ Potty Trained
✅ Polite with the cats and chickens while leashed
✅ Good with other dogs

At only 7 months old, she is still learning leash manners. She is also learning not to jump or use her teeth when playing so she is not a good fit for a household with small children.

She loves belly rubs and is such a love bug! Please share 🙏 Let’s find Tater a forever home 💕

Hey! I’m reaching out to all the horsey folks I know because we are carefully looking to add another horse to our farm. We have been blessed to have horses find us that are older, but sound and solid, ready for a life of semi-retirement.

We aren’t a show home, not a flipper, not a lesson barn, but just back yard riders that enjoy the company of horses and want to take the occasional adventure out for trails and such.

We currently have Junebug, our 20-ish year old mare. The vet contacted me about her because her owners (who are great!) lost their pasture access and she wasn’t doing well on just hay. In addition, she was at the bottom of the pack and not able to keep on weight for being chased off her food. We happened to have empty pastures, and are so happy she’s found her way here!

I’m looking for a gelding that won’t be pushy with her (or my kids). Older is ok as long as they are 100% sound. I’d love a drafty type, as my favorite horse Shorty was a draft cross and my heart still belongs to him.

Must have excellent ground manners, be forgiving of stupid humans, and tall enough for a husband or grandpa to ride occasionally. Will be pastured with other livestock- goats and a livestock guard dog, all of which are familiar with polite to horses.

Must know its job, do it well and take care of its rider. Safe is a must.

Vet reference from Dr. Cindy Kimbrell available, she’s been our vet for over a decade. Buy back contracts also perfectly fine, as we have a similar agreement with Ms. Junebug.

If you know of a great horse looking for a soft landing, please feel free to share my info with them. We are diligent about introducing new animals to the farm because they tend to stay here forever, so we aren’t in a big hurry.

Another successful hatch out at Alamance Elementary School! A big thank you to Mrs. Burns for allowing a few days of chaos during hatching, and a shout out to Nature's Love Farm and Jenn Ritchie for donating eggs. Much gratitude to Mrs. Bertell for taking these cuties home to join her flock!

*Sold* to be the herdsire for some great looking Nubians in High Point, NC!
Big Albert is a friendly fella but just too related to the rest of our goats. He comes registered with great bloodlines from Buffalo Creek Dairy and Holcomb Farms. Al is two years old and disbudded. He is easy to handle, respects electric netting fencing, and knows how to do his job. Our herd testing is negative and the herd is closed. We keep our numbers low so that we can take excellent care of our goats. Serious inquiries only please; life is short- don’t waste my time or yours!
