Atascosa County Animal Control is a public service agency focused on fostering responsible pet ownership, enforcing animal-related laws, and ensuring the humane treatment of all animals. Atascosa County Animal Control (ACAC) has served the community since October 2018, working to protect the health, safety, and welfare of both animals and residents. Euthanasia, though difficult, is sometimes a nec

essary part of our responsibility to ensure humane care and public safety. We invite the community to get involved—adopt, foster, volunteer, donate, or help spread awareness. Together, we can make a difference for the animals of Atascosa County. 🚨 UPDATE: OUR COMMUNITY NEEDS TO KNOW 🚨

We’re sharing this not to shock anyone, but because our community deserves to know what’s happening. Today, we had 22 new animals come in, only 1 dog and 1 kitten went to rescue, and no adoptions. We also had to euthanize 9 dogs, leaving us with just 2 open kennels — and that will not prevent euthanasia tomorrow.

This is our reality when intake never stops and adoptions and rescue placements don’t come in. Awareness is the only way we can change outcomes together.

👉 If you’ve been considering adopting, tomorrow truly matters.
👉 Rescues with any space at all — we would love to hear from you.
👉 If you can’t adopt, please share this post. Every share helps.

And for long‑term change, we need community support in other ways too:

• Spay and neuter your pets — it prevents unwanted litters and reduces shelter overcrowding.
• Keep pets safely contained to your yard — roaming leads to injuries, lost pets, and more animals entering the shelter.
• Microchip your pets — we can get them back to you before they ever enter the facility.

We can’t do this without you. Your actions today and your choices every day directly impact the lives we can save tomorrow. ❤️

🚨 NEED RESCUE HELP FOR NURSING MOM & 7 NEWBORN PUPPIES 🚨

We are urgently looking for a rescue partner who can take in a nursing shepherd‑mix mom (about 40 lbs) and her 7 one‑week‑old puppies.
Mama is gentle and doing an amazing job, and the puppies are all fat, happy, and healthy. 🐾💕

Unfortunately, all of our regular rescue partners are currently full, especially for nursing moms. We are hoping the community can help us share this post and connect with any rescues who may have space or know someone who does.
This little family needs a safe, quiet place where mom can continue caring for her babies without the stress of a full shelter.

👉 If you are a rescue with space or know one, please reach out immediately.
👉 Everyone else — sharing this post truly helps more than you know.

Let’s work together to get this sweet family the safety and support they deserve. ❤️

🚨 URGENT: WE ARE AT CAPACITY — PUPPIES & ADULT DOGS NEED HOMES TODAY 🚨

We are physically out of space. When every kennel is full, we are full — and we refuse to warehouse dogs or cram them into wire cages or unsafe setups. It’s not humane, and we will not compromise their welfare. 💔

At the same time, we cannot stop intake. We must respond to calls, protect public safety, and safeguard the health and wellbeing of animals in our community. That means new dogs continue arriving whether we have space or not.

Because of this, we urgently need help:
🐾 We have dozens of puppies who need adoption or rescue placement today.
🐾 Adult dogs are also at risk, and euthanasia decisions for them are being made today.
🐾 Puppy decisions will be made tomorrow, based on how many lives we can save through today’s adoptions and rescues.

🐶 Adoption fee: $30
Includes spay/neuter, microchip, age‑appropriate vaccines, deworming, flea/tick prevention.

📍 292 Spur 162, Jourdanton, TX
🕘 Mon–Sat | 9 AM–5 PM

👉 Please come adopt today. If you can’t adopt, share this post, tag friends, or reach out to rescues. Your action today gives a dog — puppy or adult — a chance at life.

❤️ Adopt. Rescue. Share. Be the reason a dog gets a tomorrow.
