TARDYS CODY BERT (RED), a four year old ranch gelding who has experienced all elements of ranch work. Cowhorse breeding top and bottom (see https://www.allbreedpedigree.com/tardys+cody+bert) ---- has gathered cows, sorted, drug calves to the branding fire and this fall is used to snub c**ts. He is a great help in getting a c**t started and Red has just been started on calves. He likes working, has no buck, is good natured and nice to be around. For more information call 406-557-2766 and ask for Sandy or email [email protected].

Ms S Heart Pam is a bay mare (Ms Peppy Sugarwood x Freckles Priority), who has had many c**ts for our breeding program, is for sale. A good mother who always produces c**ts with correct conformation and great dispositions. Pam was not broke to ride, so is selling as a broodmare only.
She is bred to Sanitas Peppy Doc for a 2020 foal. Her last c**t by Doc was sold in 2019.
A word about Sanitas Peppy Doc. We have had him for four breeding seasons and those remaining from his first crop will be four this spring (2020). His pedigree is loaded with performance---starting with his sire, Tejons Peppy Doc, who has his championship in Cutting, Working Cow Horse and Reining. There are seven champions on Doc’s papers, each with multiple championships in both AQHA and NCHA to their credit. Every sire on his papers are champions and most dams are producers of money earners. Sanitas Peppy Doc was never in competition due to an injury when he was a foal, resulting in him losing an eye. But the genetics are apparent in his progeny.

SOLD
Ohno Sheza Tardy is consigned to the August, 2018 BLS Sale in Billings, Montana. Sale date is August 25, 2018. Coggins. Take a second look at this young mare! Ohno Sheza Tardy, a 2013 Bay mare, draws on her packed pedigree for her name. Cow and Speed! Her sire, Mr Tardy Roller, is foundation cowhorse bred, with sons of Friendly Fritz and Clarks Doc Bar on his papers. Tardy’s progeny are money earners in roping, reining and, of course, they make great ranch horses. His cow sense, kind disposition and excellent conformation are traits that he passes on to his c**ts.
Ohno Sheza Tardy’s dam, Ohno Sheza Tari, is over 50% running bred, with greats like Doc Tari, Sugar Bars, Leo, Three Ohs (SI 100), and Raise A Native TB in her pedigree.
Ohno Sheza Tardy needs a job. She was started on her ground work two years ago and since then she has jus been eating and growing and “roaming the range”. She has potential, but needs someone to make that a reality.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A HORSE WHISPERER. There never has been and never will be. The idea is an affront to the horse. You can talk and listen to horses all you want, and what you will learn, if you pay close attention, is that they live on open ground way beyond language and that language, no matter how you characterize it, is a poor trope for what horses understand about themselves and about humans. You need to practice only three things, patience, observation and humility, all of which were summed up in the life of an old man who died Tuesday (July 20, 1999) in California, a man named Bill Dorrance.

Dorrance was 93, and until only a few months before his death he still rode and he still roped. He was one of a handful of men, including his brother Tom, who in separate ways have helped redefine relations between the horse and the human. Bill Dorrance saw that subtlety was nearly always a more effective tool than force, but he realized that subtlety was a hard tool to exercise if you believe, as most people do, that you are superior to the horse. There was no dominance in the way Dorrance rode, or in what he taught, only partnership. To the exalted horsemanship of the vaquero -- the Spanish cowboy of 18th-century California -- he brought an exalted humanity, whose highest expression is faith in the willingness of the horse.

There is no codifying what Bill Dorrance knew. Some of it, like how to braid a rawhide lariat, is relatively easy to teach, and some of it, thanks to the individuality of horses and humans, cannot be taught at all, only learned. His legacy is exceedingly complex and, in a sense, self-annulling. It is an internal legacy. The more a horseman says he has learned from Dorrance the less likely he is to have learned anything at all.

That sounds oblique, but it reflects the fact that what you could learn from Dorrance was a manner of learning whose subject was nominally the horse but that extended itself in surprising directions to include dogs, cattle and people. If you learned it, you would know it was nothing to boast about.

There is no mysticism, no magic, in this, only the recognition of kinship with horses. Plenty of people have come across Bill Dorrance and borrowed an insight or two, and some have made a lot of money by popularizing what they seemed to think he knew. But what he knew will never be popular, nor did he ever make much money from it. You cannot sell modesty or undying curiosity. It is hard to put a price on accepting that everything you think you know about horses may change with the very next horse.

SANITAS PEPPY DOC

Sanitas Peppy Doc, a stallion we recently purchased, fits our program well with his exceptional pedigree and disposition. Doc arrived in the Spring of 2015, just in time to be turned out with mares. It took a few days, for him to get acclimated to the vastness of the pastures and the sheer number of mares, but he soon figured it out and got to work. We have several of those exposed mares for sale as part of our partial dispersal. See more about the mares for sale on this and other websites.
Doc is a 16 year old bay stallion, 14.3 hands, with a wonderful disposition. He has a pedigree full of champions and sires/dams who are producers of money earners in reined cowhorse, cutting and reining. He has been tested and has clean (n/n) 5-Panel DNA test results.
Doc was never shown due to an eye injury he received as a foal. But, he still carries and passes on to his foals, the genes of the exceptional performance horses in his pedigree.
Doc is the son of Tejons Peppy Doc and Smart Sanita and grandson of Peppy San Badger, Doc O Lenita, Smart Chic Olena and Docs Last Sanita.

A large part of the satisfaction of breeding horses is every mating produces a wonderful surprise and this year is no different.
