Hello folks! My name is Tessie and I am a seven year five month old female Catahoula Leopard dog mix. I am medium sized and white with black in color. Even though I am partially blind and partially deaf, my humans say that I am very sweet and very intelligent. I do prefer men over women.
Since I am partially enabled, I will need to go to a forever home with a few special things; I need to be in a home where I am the only animal and with no small children. It's not that I don't like them, it's just that any sudden movement or loud noises may frighten me. Just sit in a dark room sometime, close your eyes and plug your ears; scary huh? I can see some dark shapes and hear some loud sounds but it can still be pretty scary.
The humans here say I can be trained like the other dogs, but I have to rely on your touch or my ability to smell or how something feels instead of voice commands. I also need a safe forever home with out hazards for me to hurt myself on. Like sharp corners or extension cords or stuff like that in my special area. And, I need a home where stuff in my area doesn't get moved around a lot. I have to use my memory to help me get around safely.
Well, humans, I've told you what I need from you; the patience, commitment, and understanding. Now I can tell you what I can give you in return!
I can give you my unending loyalty and love. That's because I'll know you're the one who brought me to my forever home. The humans tell me that many times, the bond a dog like me has with it's owner is even stronger that usual. And, I can also give you that deep feeling of satisfaction in knowing that when it really mattered, you helped a fellow person to a better, happier life.

Hello everyone. My name is Cassanova and I am a male Great Dane and mastiff mix of pure love. The humans here tell me that I am around 5 years old. I think they like me a lot because they call me Cass and because I try so hard. Even though I am deaf and I can't hear their voices, I watch their eyes and faces and understand what they say. I love to play and would do well with someone with a yard or who likes to go on walks in the mornings or evenings. I will need some training on my manners in a new home, since I've been at the shelter for 4 years and will need to learn the ropes to my new place.
My humans here say I need someone with love and patience in their heart. I need someone who doesn't believe a life should be thrown away just because it's got some dents and scratches here and there. I can still nuzzle you, lick your hand, and wag my tail when you get home and sleep next to your living room chair. I've had all my shots and am neutered and ready to go. Golden Paw-Paws with Possibilities Pet Rescue and Care Center is a former for profit business that began in 1998 by Mary Ann Schlau. Paws has changed objectives towards animal rescue and adoption following the experiences in the aftermath of the Joplin 2011 tornado. The need for rescue/reunification services and temporary shelter were never more evident than during the period of recovery. This was the time for transformation for Paws with Possibilities. In 2012, Paws decided to become a licensed rescue and in 2013 achieved nonprofit status as an animal rescue organization and Paws with Possibilities Pet Rescue and Care Center was born.
Paws with Possibilities still operates as a grooming and boarding facility, but now includes animal rescue and adoption. All monies earned/collected go to Paws with Possibilities Rescue for the benefit of the animals in need of rescue and care. Currently there are appoximatley 100 dogs and over 40 cats available for adoption as well as a farm animals that will live out their days in our care.
Our Mission:
Paws with Possibilities is a non-profit, no-kill animal rescue organization in Joplin Missouri. We are dedicated to rescuing animals that are left homeless for a multitude of reasons to include; animals in public shelters where there is a high risk of euthanasia due to over-population, animals given up by their owners due to circumstances beyond their control or those in danger of abuse or neglect.
We make every effort to educate potential adopters about the responsibility of bringing an animal into their home and the cost of caring for such animal, before placing the animal in the homes of loving, caring, responsible adopters.
All animals adopted through Paws with Possibilities Rescue and Care Center are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and heartworm tested before leaving for adoption.
We strive every day to continue developing a network of supporters and volunteers that can help us educate the public in order to create a better world for all animals.
