Congratulations to the nine graduates of the winter session of TSKC’s hybrid STAR Puppy and Beginner Home Manners class! Completing BHM were James and Iris, Justin and Kelce, and Julie and Remi. And six teams passed their STAR Puppy evaluation: Shawn and Pepper; Challes and Jon-Michael with Van Gogh; Kristin and Hank; Joan and Elsbeth; S. with Kirby; and K. with Hardy. The dogs were a delight, and the handlers were motivated. A special thank you to Lisa Brown for leading the class, Nikki Gonzales for assisting and Kali Sweet for evaluating tonight.

On January 11, Tri-State Kennel Club hosted its annual awards potluck dinner. The purpose of this event is to honor the achievements of our dogs and their handlers in 2025. The awards committee handed out the following awards:

Scent Work handler of the year: Misty Bowen
Barn Hunt handler of the year: Jennifer Kimberlin
Conformation owner/handler of the year: Joan Gardner
Agility handler of the year: Linda Scorse
Rally Obedience handler of the year: Lorri Sheets
Tail Wagger award: Kristen Hawkins
Member of the Year: Brandy Lawrence

Also, the committee has established a new tradition, the hall of fame. We believe all dogs are special, but this honor is intended to spotlight those dogs that exhibit just a little extra something. There were two inductees this year: Bailey, a Standard Poodle owned and loved by Ronda Murphy; and Sasha, a Belgian Malinois owned and loved by Lynn Simmons. Commemorative plaques and photos of each dog will be placed on the wall at the kennel club building.

Congratulations to all the honorees!

New year new…dog? January is right around the corner. If you’re interested in encorporating more fitness into your dog’s lifestyle in an accessible fun way while staying out of the cold we have just the thing for you! We have 6 slots left for our AKC Fit Dog Level 1 Group Class starting January 28th.

Fit Dog 1 covers all the skills needed to help handlers to improve their dog’s flexibility, form, and balance as well as strengthen your dog’s muscles and over fitness whether for sports or just everyday life. This course is heavy on positive reinforcement, and a great opportunity to build teamwork and focus with your dog.

A big congratulations to our competitor's who received new titles at our Fetch Testing 10/18: Benka Pulko Carr & Fionn - Retriever & Shanti in Intermediate, Cathy Paith & Gilmour - Novice and Kayte Dunaway & Mac who got their first pass in Advanced. Kayte also earned CGCA on Mac & Chance. Quite a few people did the Fit Fog Walk to earn points towards titles. I want to extend my thanks to Mother Nature for breaking long enough to knock this out and to our judges, Lana Casady & Kali Sweet, our Chair, Amber Chrysler and to Nikki Gonzales for doing the CGC & CGCA testing and to Kayte Dunaway, Cathy Paith, Venita Henson, and Kristen Hawkins for helping.

FETCH TESTING WEATHER STATEMENT FOR 10/18!!!!

Our area tomorrow is expecting scattered rain chances with possible low grade thunderstorms for most of the day.

In light of this, we are giving entered competitors a couple of options. Those are:

1. Come and see whether we can proceed with Fetch Testing outside in between showers.

2. Get a refund of your entries.

CGC/CGCA testing can still happen in our building.

The Fit Dog Walk will happen only if the weather permits.

Please notify the trial secretary ASAP of your choice. Emails have been sent to competitors.

We will tentatively be holding another Fetch, CGC, CGCA and Fit Dog Walk in April. We may also add other things to this.

We apologize for the inconvenience. Our competitor's safety is our priority.
