Update: Funding for our Spay & Neuter Financial Assistance program has been depleted for this fiscal year. This program will accept applications again starting in November 2026. In the meantime, please refer to the other low to no-cost spay & neuter options until this program receives additional funding.

🐾 Spay & Neuter: A Simple Step That Makes a Big Difference 🐾

Every pet deserves a safe, healthy, and loving home. Spaying and neutering not only helps reduce pet overpopulation, but it can also provide important health and behavioral benefits for your furry family members. ❤️

By choosing to spay or neuter your pet, you're helping prevent unwanted litters and reducing the number of animals that end up in shelters waiting for a home.

💙 Need help with the cost? The Joplin Health Department offers a financial assistance program to help eligible pet owners in Joplin access spay and neuter services for their pets.

If you've been considering spaying or neutering your dog or cat, now is a great time to learn more about the resources available in our community. Call us at 417-623-6122 or pick up an application at 321 E 4th St, lower entrance.

Together, we can help keep pets healthy, families happy, and reduce homelessness among animals in Joplin. 🐶🐱

U.S. health officials are increasingly worried about Sporothrix brasiliensis, a fungal pathogen that spreads through cats.

Infected cats will develop painful skin ulcers and swollen lymph glands. When left untreated, the fungus spreads through the body, eventually becoming fatal. It can also jump to humans, who also develop painful skin lesions after being scratched or bitten by infected cats. It can kill a person in severe cases, especially if the person is immunocompromised.
