If you watch this (unedited) video, stop for a second and really listen.

The sounds up here on our little hilltop are absolutely magical this time of year.

People see “5 acres” and think small, but standing here at sunrise or after a summer rain feels like stepping into an entirely different world. Tree frogs sing so loudly at night it almost sounds tropical. Birds begin calling before the sun even fully rises. Wind moves through the flowers and tall grass in waves. Hummingbirds buzz past your ears. Crickets start their chorus at dusk. Sometimes coyotes call in the distance while owls answer back from the trees.

Nature is never truly quiet. It’s constantly speaking.

This morning, just after sunrise, we watched a coyote quietly hunting through the pasture while the sky turned soft shades of gold and pink. The entire farm felt alive. Moments like that remind me how much beauty exists around us that most people miss because life moves too fast.

Our little farm is constantly full of movement and life.

We have hummingbirds zipping between flowers faster than your eyes can follow. Roadrunners sprint across the driveway like tiny dinosaurs. Turkey vultures soar overhead doing one of nature’s most important cleanup jobs. Dragonflies hover over the garden hunting mosquitoes. Monarch butterflies drift through the flowers during migration season. Lightning bugs blink across the field after dark like tiny floating lanterns.

At dusk, deer step carefully from the tree line. Hawks ride warm currents before storms roll in. Rabbits dart between rows of vegetables. Tree frogs gather every evening and sing from every direction at once. Every now and then we spot signs that foxes, bobcats, or other wildlife passed through while we were sleeping.

And the beautiful part is that none of this happened by accident.

When you leave wild spaces, plant flowers, build healthy soil, provide water, and stop trying to control every inch of land, nature responds. Pollinators arrive. Frogs return. Birds nest. Predators help balance ecosystems naturally. Life begins stacking on top of life.

That’s one of the biggest things this farm has taught me: healthy land wants to be alive.

I think people are starving for places like this right now. Places where you can hear yourself think again. Places where children can chase lightning bugs. Places where people slow down long enough to hear frogs before rainstorms and watch sunsets without rushing to the next thing.

That’s honestly why we share this space with others.

Not just for vegetables or flowers, but because there is something healing about reconnecting with the natural world again. The farm reminds people to slow down. To notice birdsongs. To notice seasons. To notice moonlight. To notice the smell of rain before it arrives.

Growing up, I loved watching Marty Stouffer and dreaming about nature documentaries. Back then I thought magic like that only existed in faraway wilderness.

Now I realize sometimes magic exists right outside your own back door.

For a little five acre farm, this place holds an unbelievable amount of life.

And right now might be one of the most beautiful times to experience it.

3:38 PM on the hilltop.

Our free “Take a Bouquet, Leave a Memory” flowers are still sitting quietly on the porch, waiting for the people who need them most.

If you stop by, simply choose a bouquet, take a quiet moment, and if you’d like, leave behind a memory in the journal beside the flowers. A name. A story. A sentence. Anything your heart wants to say.

No purchase necessary. No expectations. Just a small act of love for the people we miss and the memories we carry.

Maybe grief is simply love with nowhere to go.

Today feels heavy for a lot of people.

So this morning at Ruzycki Farms, we placed 18 small bouquets on the porch for our “Take a Bouquet, Leave a Memory” offering. These bouquets are free and were created in honor of the people we miss, the people who shaped us, and the people whose memories still live quietly inside our hearts.

Grief looks different for everyone. Sometimes it looks like tears. Sometimes it looks like laughter while telling old stories. Sometimes it looks like doing something kind because you don’t know what else to do with all the love you still carry.

A memory journal will be sitting on the porch for anyone who would like to leave behind a name, story, or moment worth remembering.

Everything at the farm is self serve today.

Fresh flower bouquets are available for purchase along with our U-Pick flower field:
• $10 Regular Jar
• $20 Wide Mouth Jar

Simply grab a jar from the porch, walk the flower field, fill your jar, and leave payment using CashApp, QR code, or the cash box.

We also have fresh turnips, carrots, and broccoli available for $4 per pound by appointment only today. Please call Michael before heading our way, as these will likely sell out quickly.

C.S.A. members are also welcome to grab some, as these crops will likely not still be available once the C.S.A. begins on June 6th, 2026. Please call Michael before heading our way, as these will be very limited quantity.

The 18 remembrance bouquets, however, are completely free and first come, first serve until they are gone. We will post once all bouquets have found homes.

Love never really leaves us. It just changes form.

Tomorrow at Ruzycki Farms, we are doing something small but meaningful for Memorial Day.

We picked a limited number of mini-bouquets from the flower field to give away freely in honor of those we love, those we miss, and those who sacrificed for this country.

“Take a Bouquet, Leave a Memory.”

A memory journal will be available on the porch for anyone who would like to leave behind a name, story, or moment worth remembering.

The bouquets will be available beginning at 9am on Memorial Day and will be first come, first serve until they are gone. We will post once all bouquets have been claimed.

Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness mean the most.

This is officially our first season with our thornless blackberry patch in full production, and we are honestly blown away. The berries are huge, sweet, glossy, and absolutely loaded onto the canes.

Blackberries teach patience. You plant them years before you truly see what they’re capable of. Pruning, watering, soil health, training canes, trusting the process. Farming is a long game.

This year, it paid off.

These berries are packed with antioxidants, vitamin C, fiber, and flavor you simply cannot buy in a grocery store container shipped across the country.

And because this season went so well, we already know what’s next: more plants.

More rows. More berries. More fresh, local fruit grown right here at Ruzycki Farms.

Next season is going to be even bigger.
