πŸ’™πŸΎA little extra love for our vet techs today! πŸΎπŸ’™

Vet techs are the calm in the chaos, the extra set of hands when things get busy, the ones who notice the little details, and often the ones giving a little extra love when our patients need it most. Their days can be messy, unpredictable, exhausting, and incredibly rewarding β€” sometimes all at once! ❀️

During Veterinary Technician Appreciation Week, we want to recognize the people who put so much of themselves into caring for the animals who come through our doors. From our smallest patients to our biggest, their hard work makes a difference in ways that don't always get seen.

Help us give our vet techs a little extra appreciation this week! Drop a πŸ’™ in the comments to show them some love!

When horse owners think about laminitis, overweight horses on spring grass is the picture that most often comes to mind. But, fall laminitis is a real threat to our equine friends!
As we approach cool nights and sunny days, the sugar in the grass will spike putting your equine partner at risk for a laminitis flare up. Pay attention to early signs of metabolic concerns like loss of topline, potbelly appearance, lethargy, and new skin sensitivities. If you notice any new symptoms, give us a call to get on the schedule for metabolic testing!

Approximately 59% of all dogs seen in veterinary hospitals have a body condition score classifying them as overweight or obese. Keeping your pet at or close to an ideal body condition is important for their long term health. Being overweight or obese can predispose them to health concerns like joint disease, diabetes, and can shorten their life span. Below is a body condition chart to help you determine where your pet falls. How did you score your dog?

Please help us in welcoming Dr. Sarah to Cambria Veterinary Care! Dr. Sarah graduated from Penn State in 2018 with a B.S. in Veterinary and Biomedical Science, followed by her Doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania in 2022. She then completed an internship and three-year fellowship in Dairy Production Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. In this role, she worked as a nutritionist and consultant for dairy producers across the state to optimize their feeding strategies and herd management to improve the health and productivity of their livestock. She is excited to bring this experience to Cambria Veterinary Care to continue serving local livestock producers, in addition to broadening her skillset within the small animal practice. Outside of the clinic, Dr. Sarah enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband, Chris, and their dog, Timmi!
