Sasha and Not Sasha are home! Sarah McKendree did their adoption after we had to reschedule last night. These people have had a day! The foster room was getting dangerously hot and our estimate for return of power is Monday late at night. They were able to find a generator and have the a/c running finally in that room!!!

They also packed up the rest of my perishables from my fridge and took it and some of my now heaping garbage pile to a dumpster. Big huge hugs to some of the best people around. From our volunteers to adopters, we have been so blessed to have the support we do. Without it, over 320 animals would have never been helped in less than 3 years out of our little home and foster homes. 🧔

Longest day ever 🫠 Lane and Silly Goose both found their homes tonight. We are planning for Sasha and Not Sasha to go home tomorrow and maybe another! Bunny is in a foster to adopt home with one of my closest friends and settled right in. Many tears on the way home but of all people for her to go to, this is probably the only one I’d be remotely ok with. Now to see how the week goes! 🧔

We still don’t have power and were supposed to leave at 7am for vacation but are heading out early to make sure we have charged phones for our morning alarms so we don’t miss our flights.

My A Team of Sarah McKendree, Missy LaMonaca, Kim Corle Geisel, Sharon Wiegand Novatny and Michelle Trotz (although she never really signed up for it lol) are holding down the fort. Milissa Ann also ended up with a cat to socialize while we are away and a tray of vaccines to store in her fridge. šŸ˜… No one was safe!

They are doing our laundry, finding ways to get air moving through the foster room safely, lending fridge and freezer space, doing adoptions, cleaning and caring for all 500 million animals with no power and getting big huge panic messages from me. This is not ideal at any point but especially when I’m away and can’t help at all. I have no idea how I would ever get away to have a chance to reset if not for them. 🧔

If you see any of them slide them some chocolate on our behalf for the next week 🄹

Pearl is doing well! We are just finishing the bottle of ear meds to be safe but she hasn’t had any issues with nystagmus or ataxia lately. She seems to have gained weight and is absolutely back to her crazy menace self. She does still have a head tilt which will likely remain for her life.

She is still on FIP meds and unfortunately cannot be fixed until they’re done - they are generally done for 84 days with an 84 day observation period however new research indicates 42 days can be effective and we are continuing to get information on the best course of action.

Because of this, she will be with us for a while or placed in a foster to adopt home that can continue the meds and will only finalize after she is spayed through us. She will legally belong to us but be in a prospective adopter’s home with all medications provided. For this reason, we are looking for a well established previous adopter only.

She is a bundle of personality and can bite your toes and bunny kick your ankles one minute and curl up with you purring away the next. She is pure kitten and even tries to join me in the shower with no regard for personal space. She is the sweetest, happiest handful there ever was. 🧔

Gus & Gracie are still waiting for someone to choose them.

These two grew up on the streets as part of a large colony, living in survival mode for so long that trusting people doesn’t come easily. They need patience, understanding, and someone willing to show them that they are finally safe. But once they’re comfortable, they’re playful, silly, and absolutely lovable. 🄹

We really don’t want these two to have to lose each other after everything they’ve been through. They deserve to finally have a home where they can feel safe together so we’ve lowered their adoption fee when adopted as a pair. They are estimated 6.5 months old, fixed, up to date on vaccines, and FIV/FeLV negative.

A gentle reminder: the shy ones are often the easiest to overlook, but they have just as much love to give. Sometimes, all they need is one person willing to see the wonderful cats hiding behind their fear.
