Just a note, because I truly do care about the well-being of your dogs. This is not aimed at anyone in particular, I have had quite a few instances recently that have made me want to say something.
As a groomer, I understand how important grooming and staying on a schedule is for your pet, however, there are some things that are more important to consider.
If your dog is not feeling well; nausea, diarrhea, lethargy, limping, soreness, open wounds, hot spots, etc. I’d rather reschedule the appointment than groom your dog while they are uncomfortable.
Grooming isn’t just a bath and a haircut. It requires extreme patience from the dogs and is also very physical for them too. Think of it as standing on your feet for an hour while your foot hurts, or perhaps you have an upset stomach while somebody is constantly picking at you. Most dogs don’t like grooming as it is, and then forcing them to do something while they don’t feel good doesn’t help the experience.
I am in the business of grooming dogs because I care about the dogs, and I enjoy helping them feel their best. I truly do try my best to accommodate certain ailments/concerns whenever I can, however, if a dog is feeling uncharacteristically uncomfortable, I prefer they not get a haircut that day .
When I ask you at drop off if anything is new, I truly am looking for anything that may affect the way our appointment goes. Any recent dental procedures that might cause them to have a sore mouth, limping after playing ball last week, licking of feet, pop-up seizures, etc. Any little thing can help me be able to make good decisions on how to handle your animal while they are in my care.
I understand that my schedule is very full, but if you cancel an appointment because your dog is not feeling well, I will always try my best to get you rescheduled ASAP. Your dogs well-being is my main priority.
Thank you for reading, and if you have any questions just reach out to me
Thanks,
