🐾 KENNEL COUGH REMINDER! 🐾
As the colder weather approaches, we want to remind all of our clients about kennel cough and the importance of keeping our furry friends healthy!
Kennel cough is a highly contagious respiratory illness that spreads through the air, direct contact, and contaminated surfaces. Because grooming salons have multiple dogs coming and going throughout the day, it’s important that everyone does their part to help prevent the spread.
🐶 Vaccination: All dogs visiting the grooming salon should be up to date on their Bordetella vaccine. While vaccination doesn’t guarantee your dog won’t catch kennel cough, it can significantly reduce the risk and symptoms of illness.
🐶 Incubation Period: One of the trickiest things about kennel cough is that dogs can be contagious before showing any symptoms. This means a dog can appear perfectly healthy during their grooming appointment while potentially spreading the infection to others.
🐶 Know the Symptoms: The most common symptom is a persistent, dry, hacking cough that often sounds like gagging or trying to clear something from the throat. If your dog is vaccinated, they may only cough one or two times, but still be contagious to other dogs.
🚨 If your dog is coughing, gagging, or showing any signs of respiratory illness, PLEASE reschedule your grooming appointment! Even if your dog is vaccinated, they can still become infected and spread the illness.
❤️ At All 4 Paws, the health and safety of every dog in our care is incredibly important to us. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in keeping our salons a safe and healthy environment!
A little prevention goes a long way in protecting all of our four-legged friends! 🐾
