Emma update: I never thought I’d get to give this update, but Emma’s cancer appears to be shrinking. We saw the vet this week and she agreed with us that the tumors are going away or at least smaller. Her swelling on her nose is way down, but not gone. And the tumors in her gum line are mostly gone. We’re thrilled. No one really has an explanation for why this is happening. But we’re excited our girl is doing so well.

Emma update: the update is that there’s not much of an update, and we love it being that way. She snores louder and we can see that her cancer is growing. However, she is still eating anything she can and drinking well. She still retrieves anything not nailed down. She still loves to go anywhere with us. She’s still sassy and energetic. She’s still going into work with me a couple days a week and hanging out in one of the offices. We are trying really hard to maintain her routine and quality of life. She’s really enjoying all the pets and treats she gets in retirement. We’re excited to take her on some special adventures this summer.

This is the update I’ve been dreading. Emma is fully retired. She started having nosebleeds this week. This is something we expected and in fact is usually the first symptom that people catch with this type of cancer.
As you may expect from a 5 year old, working line, high drive, lab, Emma is struggling with this transition. We are super thankful that one of my coworkers lets Emma hang out with her in her office while I work. This has made the transition much smoother for Emma.
