Are you preparing for the fourth? If your dog has severe anxiety reach out to your vet now. If you have a puppy start playing firework sounds tracks so they know sounds and can associate it with something positive. Plan to be home with your pets!

It’s hot out today! The asphalt temperature is going to be significantly higher than the air temperature. Today the asphalt has reached 124 F. Boots will prevent your dogs from getting burnt paws. You can purchase cost effective ones at PetSmart and Amazon. Ruffwear, muttlucks are also good brands that will last longer.

I had a great time evaluating this guy for service work, a couple of weeks ago. He has great potential to make a great service dog for his handler!

I've noticed I have some new followers here! Welcome! I'm glad you're here!

I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Jennie Kate Carr. I use she/ her pronouns. I am disabled and am a service dog handler myself. I am married to partner, my husband, Matthew Carr for almost a year now.

I have a bachelor's degree in animal science from the University of Tennessee - Knoxville and I have experience in animal behavior, husbandry, education, and safe animal handling across multiple species. I am trained in multiple ways of dog training. I do practice LIMA training and will use aversive tools (prongs, e-collars, head collars, ect) when they are needed. However I am very picky about the kind, brand, and method of using and conditioning the dog to those tools.

As someone that helps people train their own service dog (and a service dog handle myself), I've seen the whole gamete of how people act when they see a working dog in public.

While we do work hard to train our dogs to work through it interaction can still be distracting, just like constant interaction is distracting for most people.

So if you are passing a working dog in public please just ignore it (don't stare, don't make sounds, etc), and if you are interacting with the handler please speak directly to us not to dog.
