I’m often asked for a grooming estimate including for puppers I do not groom, eg. Doodles! My focus is “da shedders” or better said I hope, the puppers that don’t require shavers / scissors: Saints; Newfies; Dobes; GSD’s; Huskeys; Retrievers; Great Pyrs; King Corso’s; Mixed blends; Mastiff’s; etc etc etc!

It’s a perfectly reasonable question, but the answer is difficult when it’s sight unseen. There are several key factors: Shedding (normal or seasonal); Matting (just a few here and there to OMG Houston we have a problem); Burs (few to my pupper blends in great in a high / dense w**d field); Dirt (normal - just needs a great bath, to my puppers coat is normally white and he/she bathed themselves in …?); Time - I make and take the time necessary to groom as thoroughly as possible and don’t cut corners, eg., I avoid cutting / shaving mats at all costs and work through through them. However, some grooming “challenges” can take in excess of 4 hours - depending!! That’s a very long time to ask any pupper to be a patient customer! Thus, there have been times I have them return the next day to resume their appt. While extreme circumstances, it’s happened, but know I’ll always do what’s right, and right for your pupper - trust me, they let me know when they’ve had enough and I won’t force them as “they remember!”

Thus, I ran across this website and thought it may be helpful as I’m going to give it a try and see how it works! If you give it a whirl, I’d love to know / get your feedback if you find it useful and aligns with your experience and expectations, or the output you receive is just “bat s**t crazy!” 🙂

Bowser and his brudder Maui got their Spa Day O Lays on!

Bows always brings me dem mats - behind his ears, haunches, and tail! We don’t cut corners, we don’t shave, we work through them as any responsible groomer should 99% of the time!

There have been times there’s just no options, however, they are rare and extreme cases! Extreme being finding “bugs” embedded into mats! Yes, bugs!! Mats can become so compacted and water won’t permeate them - but dampness can in and around them and they can become breeding grounds for BUGS! Yes, I’ve had that disgusting experience more than once - not my dogs!!

We also will never shave a dual coated dog for good reason! If you think think it allows them to be cooler in the summer, it doesn’t, and does more potential harm than good! We can agree to disagree - but I’ll still not shave even if requested! It’s been proven shaving a dual coated dog doesn’t make them cooler, but, in fact, breaks down their natural cooling and heating ability inherent in their coats! It will also cause their coat to become corse over time!

Loki got his “spa day O Ley” on!

Ohhh big boy, how did you make those mats in all those precarious places?!!

I had to VERY carefully remove them all from his undercarriage - in and around his private parts - it was almost surgical! The other normal mats I successfully worked through, as I normally do, and didn’t shave a hair as I avoid shaving at all costs - especially dual coated fluffers!

As shared, pick up and delivery is always welcome and available! Evening appts and weekends are cool too!

Bailey loves swimming in the river!!! She definitely needed a Spa Day O Ley! She was not only patient and kind, she loved getting rubbed down several times! Not sure if that part was her fav, or getting blown out and knowing how pretty it made her look! She got her chariot ride home and was so happy to see her poppa and show off how soft her coat is, how furnominal she smelled, and how beautiful she looked!

Give me shout as making your furbabies look beautiful is what it’s all about! Pick up and drop off is never a problem!
