WEIGHTED BLANKETS FOR PETS… PROS AND CONS

As the popularity of these weighted blankets increases, be aware of the risks for
Pets.

Weighted blankets can absolutely be DEADLY to small pets -cats, dogs, rabbits, piglets, etc. because they are very heavy - the pet might be able to get out from under the blanket and suffocate. AND if the ingest the filling can of the blankets - it’s a another potentially life threatening situations

NEVER LEAVE A WEIGHTED BLANKET UNATTENDED WITH AN ANIMAL. Weighted vests are different since it is worn by the pet and not covering an entire body surface where they can get trapped.

Dolly Parton didn’t need another business. She already had songs, a theme park, and six decades of a career. But in August 2022, she decided to use her name for something different: a line of clothing and accessories for dogs called Doggy Parton, featuring little shirts, dresses, squeaky toys, and even a blonde wig identical to her own.

What makes it special isn’t the catalog, but where the money goes. A portion of every sale is donated to Willa B. Farms, a nonprofit shelter in Old Hickory, Tennessee, that rescues abandoned, abused, or displaced animals and gives them a home. Dolly explained that it all began with 'Puppy Love,' her first single, released 60 years before this idea.

Dolly Parton died on August 25, 2026, at the age of 80, leaving behind a six-decade career and a legacy of generosity that also extended to animals. Doggy Parton was one example of that love and of her intention to help them, turning part of the profits from her own brand into support for animals that had been abandoned, abused, or displaced.

COOLING TREATS & IDEAS FOR HIGH HEAT…

High heat affects ALL the animals

To keep your pet cool & hydrated, here are some ideas to share.

EXTERNAL SOURCES:
▪️Hose down, sprinklers, kiddie pools/regular pools (please use life jackets & never leave unsupervised - small dogs/short legged dogs struggle swimming)
▪️Wet bandanas, place in freezer then tie around your buddies neck
▪️Cooling mats
▪️Fans, air conditioning
▪️Dog houses if they are outside/shade areas
▪️Sunblock (there are natural safe for pets)

TREATS:
▪️Cool water
▪️Frozen carrots, green beans, cucumbers, watermelon, tomatoes (limit the high sugar fruits & vegs)
▪️Make frozen treats: can use bone broth or low sodium chicken/beefstock, pour into larger molds (sometimes smaller ice cubes can be danger ‼️ of choking of the pet swallows whole), can pour into ziplock baggie, freeze & break into pieces
▪️Frozen blueberry, peanut butter banana treats
▪️Refresh/replace water with fresh cooling water a few times each day

FROZEN TREATS RECIPE: ‼️NO XYLITOL IT IS DEADLY‼️

Mix together Greek plain yogurt, frozen fruit: blueberries, apples, cucumbers, watermelon, banana, water or coconut water - measure with your heart. Add ingredients to blender - add enough liquid to make a thicker milkshake consistency - freeze. Serve once frozen.
