Hello, everyone! We’re back in the salon and working through appointment scheduling. Thank you for your patience while we get caught up!

Janet is moving on to an exciting new opportunity, and we wish her all the best. With her departure, we will no longer offer the additional Saturday appointments, and the salon will be closed on Mondays again. For the few Monday appointments already scheduled this year, I’ll be here to take care of them.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support! 🌼

🌼 Wellness Wednesday ~ Freshly Picked Facts for You & Your Furry Friends! 🌼

More Than Just Bad Breath 🦷🐾

When people think about dental health, they often think of one thing…

Bad breath.

But did you know that bad breath isn’t “normal dog breath”? It’s often a sign that bacteria are building up in the mouth.

Just like us, dogs develop plaque every day. If that plaque isn’t removed, it hardens into tartar, which can lead to:
🦷 Inflamed or bleeding gums
🦷 Loose or damaged teeth
🦷 Pain while eating or chewing
🦷 Infection
🦷 Tooth loss

Over time, gingivitis, or severe dental disease doesn’t just affect the mouth, it can impact your dog’s overall health. Bacteria from advanced dental disease may enter the bloodstream and contribute to problems affecting organs such as the heart, kidneys, and liver.

Some signs your dog may need a dental checkup include:
🐾 Persistent bad breath
🐾 Yellow or brown tartar buildup across the teeth
🐾 Red, swollen, or bleeding gums
🐾 Cracked or broken teeth
🐾 Dropping food while eating
🐾 Difficulty chewing
🐾 Pawing at the mouth
🐾 Reluctance to chew toys or treats

We also know that professional veterinary dental cleanings can be a significant investment, especially since they require anesthesia. While not every dental disease can be prevented, there are many simple things you can do at home to be proactive and help slow the buildup of plaque and tartar between veterinary visits.

Here are a few ways to support your dog’s oral health:
✔️ Brush your dog’s teeth regularly with a dog safe toothpaste.
✔️ Offer veterinary approved dental chews.
✔️ Consider dental diets if recommended by your veterinarian.
✔️ Schedule routine veterinary dental exams.
✔️ Get your dog comfortable with having their mouth handled from a young age.

Small habits done consistently can make a big difference over your dog’s lifetime.

💚 A healthy smile is about more than fresh breath, it’s an important part of your dog’s overall health and quality of life.

When was the last time you took a peek inside your furry friend’s mouth? A few minutes of preventive care today may help save discomfort, and potentially costly dental treatment down the road.

🫧 NEW at Fresh as a Daisy Dog Spaw — Microbubble Therapy! 🫧

We’re always looking for ways to improve what we can offer our dogs, especially when it comes to skin and coat health, and we officially have a microbubble machine available at the shop!

Microbubble technology creates extremely tiny bubbles that are able to work down through the coat and along the skin, helping lift away dirt, oils, allergens, dead skin, bacteria, and other buildup that traditional bathing may have a harder time reaching. And the best part? It does all of that without aggressive scrubbing, making it a really gentle option for dogs with sensitive or irritated skin.

Microbubble treatments can be especially helpful for dogs dealing with things like:

🫧 Itchy, irritated or sensitive skin
🫧 Excess oil and odor
🫧 Dry, flaky skin and dandruff
🫧 Environmental buildup and allergens
🫧 Ye**ty or problem-prone skin
🫧 Clogged follicles and general skin/coat buildup
🫧 Dogs who benefit from a deeper clean without harsher scrubbing

And, naturally, Kasanova volunteered as our first official test subject. 😂

After several days of swimming, his skin decided it was time to throw another tantrum. He’s broken out again, so instead of just talking about what our new machine can do, we figured there was no better time to put it to the test.

Into the tub went The Great Toad. 🐸🫧

For dogs like Kas who spend a lot of time swimming, outdoors, rolling in who knows what, and generally making questionable life choices, being able to give the skin a thorough but gentle clean is something I’m really excited to have available.

This isn’t a magic cure for medical skin conditions, and persistent or severe skin problems should always be addressed with your veterinarian. But as groomers, there is a LOT we can do to support healthy skin and coat, and microbubble therapy gives us another tool to do exactly that.

We’ll be keeping an eye on Kas over the next several days to see how his skin responds. Considering this dog is basically my walking, swimming science experiment at this point, he might as well make himself useful. 🤣

Microbubble treatments are now available at Fresh as a Daisy Dog Spaw! 🫧🌿

If your dog struggles with itchy, oily, flaky, funky, sensitive or problem prone skin, ask us whether a microbubble treatment may be a good addition to their next visit!
