POV: It’s your first playgroup introduction and approximately 45 seconds later…

“Did we just become best friends?!”
“YEP!” 😂🐾

Next thing you know, they’ve got so much room for activities, the yard has become the Catalina Wine Mixer, and nobody remembers these dogs literally just met. 🤣

First introductions can tell us so much about a dog—and we LOVE seeing those play bows, happy zoomies, and “where have you been all my life?!” moments. ❤️

This is exactly why we encourage families to text us a photo when their dog goes missing!

This sweet girl came into our shelter, and because her family had sent us pictures of their missing pup, our staff was able to quickly compare the photos and say the words we LOVE getting to say:

“We have your dog!” 🥹❤️

When your dog is missing, every minute feels like forever. Having a clear, recent photo gives our staff another tool to help identify incoming dogs and connect them with their families as quickly as possible.

Please include any helpful information you have—where they went missing, their name, distinguishing markings, collar information, and anything else that may help us recognize them.

Even if you aren’t sure whether your dog has been brought to us yet, send the picture anyway. If a dog matching their description comes through our doors, we want to be able to make that connection.

At the end of the day, our goal isn’t to keep your dog.

Our goal is to get them HOME. 🐾🏡❤️

🚨 NATIONAL DOG DAY UPDATE: BACKUP HAS ARRIVED. 🚨🐶

Apparently the City of Jerome Fire Department heard about the recent string of stuffed-animal murders happening at the shelter and decided this situation required emergency intervention. 😂🚒

And boy, did they DELIVER.

Our firefighters showed up with an entire army of stuffed animals ready to report for duty. 🫡🧸🎃 Unfortunately, judging by the criminal records of our current shelter residents, we cannot guarantee the safety or survival of a single one of them.

In honor of National Dog Day, our dogs would like to formally thank the Fire Department for supplying them with:
🐾 New best friends
🐾 Cuddle buddies
🐾 Enrichment
🐾 And, most importantly… fresh victims. 😈

Somewhere in this pile is a stuffed animal blissfully unaware that its life expectancy can now be measured in minutes.

🔥🚒 HUGE thank you to the City of Jerome Fire Department for hearing our plea and absolutely showing up for our shelter dogs! You guys understood the assignment. ❤️

🚨🐾 NATIONAL DOG DAY: CRIME SCENE UPDATE 🐾🚨

Apparently our shelter dogs heard it was National Dog Day and assumed that meant they were entitled to celebrate however they saw fit.

We regret to report that there have been MULTIPLE NEW VICTIMS. 🧸💀

Staff arrived this morning to scenes of absolute carnage. Stuffing scattered across the floor. Limbs separated from bodies. Victims abandoned without remorse. And our suspects?

✨ Happy.
✨ Unbothered.
✨ Probably requesting another toy.

At this time, no arrests have been made because unfortunately all of our suspects are already in custody. 😂🚔

Investigators believe these incidents may be connected to the ongoing stuffed-animal crime spree previously reported at the shelter. We also have reason to believe donations from former inmates may be enabling the current population. 👀

So, in honor of National Dog Day, please enjoy these completely uncensored photos from this morning’s crime scenes. 😂

And if you have any stuffed animals sitting around your house that are ready to make the ultimate sacrifice, our inmates would be happy to… take care of them.

🚨🧸 STUFFED ANIMAL MURDER SPREE AT THE SHELTER 🧸🚨

We regret to inform the public that we are currently dealing with a serial stuffed-animal killer situation.

The victims are numerous.
The crime scenes are fluffy.
The suspects are adorable.
And absolutely NO ONE is cooperating with the investigation. 🐶👀

Our shelter dogs LOVE having stuffed animals in their kennels. They provide comfort, enrichment, something fun to carry around…and apparently, for some of our residents, the opportunity to commit premeditated flufficide. 😂

Unfortunately, our stuffed animal population is declining at an alarming rate, so we need reinforcements!

🧸 We happily accept gently used stuffed animals! Before donating, please make sure they have:

✅ NO batteries or electronic components
✅ NO beads or pellet fillings
✅ NO hard/plastic eyes, noses, or other pieces that can be chewed off
✅ Nothing unsafe hiding inside

Basically, if you have stuffed animals sitting around your house that are ready to be loved, slobbered on, carried proudly through a kennel and potentially disemboweled in a spectacular cloud of fluff…we know a few dogs who would be thrilled to take them off your hands. 😂

🐾🏡 HOME-TO-HOME ADOPTION: MEET LOU! 🏡🐾

Meet Lou, a 9-month-old English Bulldog/Idaho S**g mix with an adorable face, a whole lot of energy, and approximately zero interest in living a boring life. 😂❤️

Lou is still very much a puppy, which means her current priorities include RUN. PLAY. EAT. REPEAT. And when she finally runs out of batteries? She is more than happy to cash in for some cuddles. 🥰

🐶 A little about Lou:

* 9 months old
* English Bulldog/Idaho S**g mix
* Not currently spayed
* Up to date on vaccinations
* House trained
* Knows “sit” and “kennel”
* Good with other dogs
* Good with kids
* VERY playful and high-energy
* Loves being outside where she can run and play with her people
* Very food motivated, which should make continued training a lot easier!
* Once the puppy energy finally wears off, she loves a good cuddle. ❤️

Lou is looking for a new home for one pretty important reason: she and chickens are NOT going to be friends. 🐔🚫

Her current family lives next to a farm with free-range chickens. After one wandered into Lou’s yard and she caught it, Lou discovered that apparently chasing chickens is very exciting and has since started trying to get out to reach the others roaming nearby.

Because of this, Lou needs a home without chickens or other poultry and with a secure yard. Her family loves her dearly, but their location simply isn’t a safe or realistic setup for her anymore.

Lou is young, smart, food motivated, and still has plenty of learning ahead of her. She would thrive with a family willing to give her the exercise, structure, training, and attention that a high-energy young dog needs. In return, you get one seriously cute adventure buddy who will eventually curl up beside you when she’s done causing puppy shenanigans. 😂🐾

🏡🐾 HOME-TO-HOME ADOPTION: MEET MAX! 🐾🏡

Everyone, meet Max — and yes, Max is a girl! 😂❤️ This beautiful 5-year-old German Shepherd/Husky mix is looking for a new family to call her own.

Max’s ideal day sounds pretty perfect: spend some time playing, maybe get the zoomies with her humans, splash around in a kiddie pool or puddle, and then retire to the couch where she can continue pretending she is a perfectly reasonable size for a lap dog. 😂

🐾 A little about Max:

* Around 5 years old
* German Shepherd/Husky mix
* Not currently spayed
* Wonderful with children of all ages
* Does great with smaller dogs and LOVES playing with them
* Does not do well with dogs similar to her own size
* Cats require a slow, careful introduction — she does not do well with unfamiliar cats right away
* Shy when first meeting someone, but warms up pretty quickly
* Kennel trained
* Knows sit, shake, and “sit pretty” for treats
* Rarely barks
* Playful when the mood strikes, but is generally quite happy being a couch potato
* Loves puddles and pools… but please keep that suspicious garden hose away from her. 😂💦
* Firmly believes she is a lap dog, and we aren’t going to be the ones to tell her otherwise.

Max is being rehomed because she and another older dog in her current home are no longer getting along. Her owner describes her as having an overall great temperament, and the goal is simply to find her a home where she can be happy and successful. ❤️

💛 A Gift That Means More Than Treats 💛

Today, we received a donation that carries a little more meaning behind it.

These treats and chews were donated to the dogs in our care from the Estate of Linda R. Wyatt, with the gift sent by Marcia S. Person. 🐾

There is something incredibly touching about seeing a person’s kindness continue to reach others even after they are gone. In this case, that kindness will show up in wagging tails, busy paws, calmer evenings in kennels, and some very happy shelter dogs.

To Linda’s family and loved ones, please know that this gift will be put to good use. Every treat will become part of enrichment, training, comfort, or simply a little moment of happiness for a dog waiting for their next chapter. ❤️

What a beautiful way for someone’s memory to continue doing good.

Thank you for thinking of our shelter dogs and allowing Linda’s memory to bring them a little extra joy. We are truly honored to receive it. 🐶🐾
