Sometimes you just need a little whimsy. This year's fairy garden grew a bit bigger, tucked into an old wheelbarrow and filled with tiny magic. It makes me smile every time I walk by. ✨🧚‍♀️🌿

In today's "Things That Make Perfect Sense to Chickens" Chronicles...

Apparently the theft of the barn cat's milk has been resolved through diplomatic negotiations.
This morning an egg was discovered next to the cat's milk bowl.
(For those who missed it, we caught one of the hens drinking out of the barn cat's milk dish the other day.)
The cat has accepted payment and declined to press charges. 😂🐔🥚🐱

Considering my top performers are a peacock, a chicken mafia, and random farm projects, I'd say we're all as surprised as anyone.

Apparently I have reached the stage of life where I can look at a bead, a charm, and a piece of string and think, "I should probably buy 47 more of those."
I'm not saying I have a craft supply problem...
But I can now make a freshie hanger for a lake lover, a chicken lady, a hunter, a coffee addict, a cowgirl, and someone actively participating in a s**t show.

Anyway... new freshie hangers are hitting the K & L Farms Farm Shed. And yes, I can make more. 🤣

Breaking Farm News 🦚
Apparently this peahen missed the memo that peafowl are supposed to hide their nests somewhere deep in the brush where nobody can find them.
Instead, she chose:
✅ The barn
✅ Right by the hay feeder
✅ In plain sight
✅ Under absolutely zero witness protection
She's sitting there like, "Yes, I have selected this highly secure location. Please continue with your chores."
We've spent years playing "Where did the peahens hide their eggs this time?" only to have this girl say, "Nah. I'm nesting in aisle three."
At this point we're expecting her to ask for room service and a fan.
If all goes well, in a few weeks she'll be strutting out of the barn with a parade of peachicks behind her, acting like she accomplished some great feat of stealth.
Meanwhile, the entire farm has known her address since Tuesday. 😂🦚🥚🐣

Nicole's birthday party recap:
The tiramisu disappeared, which is generally the highest compliment a dessert can receive.
Paul also made "Colonel Paul's Chicken", Nicole's requested birthday meal for the third year in a row.
The recipe is classified. We could tell you what's in it, but Paul never measures, so trust me....it wouldn't help. It's gonna remain a mystery i think.
All we know is that it disappears faster than the tiramisu and has achieved legendary status among a very demanding panel of birthday judges.
For a family fun project/craft, we made herb gardens. I may have accidentally turned a birthday activity into a small-scale horticulture program by starting all the herbs from seed weeks beforehand.
So technically, this was less of a craft and more of a group presentation of what happens when a farm mom plans birthday activity.
And they all thought they were decorating old spoons by metal stamping.🤷‍♀️ ( which incidentally turned out really cute for labeling their herbs)
Meanwhile, I was over there like: "Welcome to Phase 7 of the herb production cycle."
They left with cute herb gardens. I left with a deeper appreciation for commercial nurseries.
10/10 Would overcomplicate a birthday party activity again.
A good time was had by all.

A month later, the vegetables never got planted, the weeds moved in, and management expanded to seven tiny yellow supervisors. 🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥

The world of agriculture has changed significantly in the last 100 years. My dad was born in 1924. He farmed with horses thru his growing up years.
And now look at this......the spud field being fertilized with the use of drones.🤯
