Friendly psa to our grooming and boarding clients it’s the season for all the nasty weeds!

Friendly reminder from the pound.

Something I’m seeing a lot of this year is dogs coming in with grass awns (foxtails/cheat grass) embedded in their paws, with a couple already having infections.

Whatever you call them, foxtails, cheat grass, June grass, or sticker grass, it’s all the same problem. These sharp little seeds work their way into a dog’s coat, between the toes, and even into ears, eyes, and skin. Once they get in, they don’t just fall out, they keep moving and can cause infections, abscesses, limping, and other issues if they aren’t caught early.

A quick check after your dog has been outside can really make a difference:
• Check between the toes and paw pads
• Run your hands through their coat, especially legs and belly
• Watch for limping, licking, swelling, or irritation
• Take a quick look at ears if they’ve been in tall grass

It only takes a minute, but it can save your dog a lot of pain and a vet visit later on.

If you’re out in fields, ditches, or anywhere with tall dry grass right now, just take that extra minute when you get home, your dog will thank you.

Ivory is such a little pistol. She attacks the blow-dryer, and if she doesn't know you she's going to show you all her teeth. I just love this little messy girl even with all her quirks.

Brody sure loves his outside and camping time but he was looking a little scruffy. We washed out the weeds and got his coat looking so much better.

Pics don't do justice to the size of this handsome boy, or the amount of undercoat he was packing around, but Thor came in for a nail grind and to lose a whole dog's worth of hair. He's such a good boy

Does your floofy friend have a case of the Grinch toes? Are they full of undercoat and shedding all over the house? Grooming doesn't have to mean shaved down. Handsome Oliver came in for a deshed and a tidy up and walked out felling and looking so much better.

It's FRIDAY and sweet Ellie is feeling it as much as the rest of us 😂♥️🫶🏽 Look at that little tongue, that's the universal sign for "the weekend starts now" and we couldn't agree more — she came in for her spa day, left looking like a snack, and is heading home to start her weekend in style ✨🐾

Sweet Gemma came in looking like she'd just lost a fight with a windstorm and left looking like the schnauzer royalty she was always meant to be 🐾 Look at those eyebrows... that perfectly tucked beard... Mom absolutely cooked on this one, and Gemma 100% knew how good she looked — look at that strut at the end 😂♥️🫶🏽
Huge thank you to her family for trusting us with her, she was such a good girl on the table and we already can't wait to have her back 💗🐾

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mamas out there — the human ones and the four-legged fur-baby ones too. 🐾 If you love a dog like family, today is your day just as much as anyone’s.
Jesse took me out to lunch today and I am one lucky mama. So grateful for this little community we’ve built here in Jerome — you all feel like family to us, dogs included.
