🐾 Friday Fun Fact: Meet the Basenji!

The Basenji is considered one of the world’s oldest dog breeds, with a history that stretches back thousands of years. Known for their alert expression, athletic build, and independent personality, these unique companions have a fascinating place in canine history.

Fun fact: Basenjis are also famous for their unusual vocalizations, they’re often described as “barkless,” though they can make a distinctive yodel-like sound.

Understanding your dog’s threshold can make a big difference in how they respond to the world around them. 🐾

Pay attention to three key factors: intensity, distance, and duration. When a trigger becomes too overwhelming, creating more space, lowering the intensity, or shortening the interaction can help your dog stay calm, focused, and ready to learn. 🐶💛

Learning to recognize your dog’s limits help build confidence, trust, and more positive experiences together!

🎃🍬 Halloween treats are for people, not our furry friends!

Keep candy, wrappers, and trick-or-treat bags safely out of reach, and make sure everyone in the house knows the rules.
If your companion gets into candy, contact us right away for any concerns or visit an emergency vet hospital after hours.

🐾 Treats are a fun way to reward, train, and bond with your companion, but they should still fit into a balanced diet!

Purina recommends following the 90/10 rule: no more than 10% of your dog’s daily calories should come from treats, while the remaining 90% should come from complete and balanced meals. Going over that treat allowance can add extra calories and may contribute to weight gain over time.

Your dog’s ideal treat amount can vary based on size, age, activity level, and overall health, so portioning matters; Even for those extra-cute begging faces. 🐶

Not sure how many treats are appropriate for your furry friend?
Reach out to our Vet team for guidance based on their individual needs!
