25 years later …
Twenty-five years later, we remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the heroes who ran toward danger when others were running away.
On 9/11, first responders, search-and-rescue teams, medical professionals, and working dogs stood side-by-side in an extraordinary display of courage, service, and compassion.
There were 2,977 lives were lost, including 441 first responders that made the ultimate sacrifice. More than 300 specially trained dogs joined the rescue and recovery efforts—searching through the rubble, locating victims, and providing comfort to those who needed it most.
As veterinary professionals, we have a special appreciation for the human-animal bond and the incredible courage of the working dogs who stood beside their handlers during one of our nation’s darkest days.
Today, we honor every person and every animal who served, searched, comforted, and helped in the aftermath of that day. 🐾🇺🇸
We remember.
We honor.
We will never forget.
