It's this kinda love we hope you can feel through our posts. It's genuine. He really *is* smiling.
This dog WAS so desperate. He was in this hidden backyard, surrounded by tall brick walls on three sides (which was only beneficial in terms of windbreak).
But he was alone. And not even somewhere his guardian could actually SEE him. A social, loving pack animal--alone. That's not how it's supposed to be.
And he barked and barked. And cried and cried. Because he hadn't given up yet. And we echoed his sentiments with our human voices repeatedly to his guardian. But human stubbornness is real.
When we realized that life inside wasn't ever going to be a reality here, we pushed for surrender. We got told "no," in very colorful ways, repeatedly. There was a lot of anger and spite. And we get that. Because everyone DESERVES a dog, BUT every circumstance doesn't automatically make that possible with the dog's best interest foremost.
These are difficult conversations.
These may not be "our" dogs but we care about them as if they were. And we never give up.
A vet visit is next.
But the real living has already began.
