Reward Calm Behavior 🦴

We often focus on teaching dogs what to do — sit, stay, come, leave it — but learning how to simply settle and relax is just as important.

If your dog calmly lies on their bed while you’re cooking, working or watching TV, reward them for it!

Calm behavior deserves attention too!

Treat Treasure Hunt!

Instead of putting your dog’s treats straight into their bowl, hide a few around a safe area of the house and let them sniff them out!

Start with easy spots and, once they get the hang of it, make the hiding spots a little trickier.

It’s a simple way to let them use their nose and brain while turning snack time into a fun little game.

Who needs a fancy puzzle when you’ve got a dog who thinks they’re a professional detective?

Time for pumpkin everything, cozy weather, spooky decorations and, of course, making sure our pets stay safe during all the Halloween fun!

A few things to keep in mind this month:

• Keep candy away from pets
• Be careful with Halloween decorations
• Give nervous pets a quiet place during trick-or-treating
• Keep pets away from open doors

Spooky season is fun… until the dog decides the Halloween decorations need to be destroyed!!

Sometimes pets just need a little extra love and patience!

A new environment, a change in routine, unfamiliar people, or even a different smell in the house can be a lot for a pet.

What seems small to us can feel like a big change to them.

Giving them time to adjust, letting them approach things at their own pace, and keeping their routine as consistent as possible can help them feel more comfortable.

A little patience can go a long way when you’re seeing the world through their eyes! 🤎

If your pet could pick one treat to have forever, what do you think they’d choose? 👀

Is it crunchy biscuits?

Freeze-dried treats?
Or maybe they’ll eat absolutely anything you put in front of them. 😂

A Little Pet Body Language Reminder 🐾

Our dogs tell us a lot without saying a word. Sometimes we just have to slow down and pay attention.

A wagging tail doesn’t always mean a happy dog. Other signs can tell us they’re uncomfortable or stressed, like:

• Turning their head or avoiding eye contact
• Licking their lips when there’s no food around
• Yawning when they aren’t tired
• Pinning their ears back
• Tucking their tail
• Trying to move away or hide
• Holding their body very still or stiff
• Showing the whites of their eyes (“whale eye”)

These signs don’t automatically mean a dog is scared or upset — context matters. But they can be little clues that your dog may need some space or a break.

Learning to notice these small signals can help us understand our dogs better and respect what they’re trying to tell us. 🐶🤎
