Hildi, an amazingly sweet Dachshund girl, had an acute episode of intervertebral disc disease (IVDD). She had a bulging disc that caused pain in her back and put pressure on the spinal cord leading to abnormal function in her hind legs. She had weakness and ataxia, meaning she wasn't quite sure where her back legs were when she moved. She had to rest frequently and tripped/fell easily.

I treated Hildi with electroacupuncture to reduce the pain and inflammation and to stimulate the nerves in her back and down her hind legs. Hildi responded quickly and within a few treatments, she had regained the function in her hind limbs and was ready to take on the world again! Her devoted owner played the most important role by seeking treatment immediately and following through perfectly with exercise restriction.

Willow was diagnosed with kidney disease secondary Lyme disease. Luckily, this sweetheart is a fighter. During her acupuncture sessions, she struggles to keep her eyes open and often seeks some cuddles (with a light snooze) from her loving owner. She has been full of energy and stopped having accidents in the house.

The agent that causes Lyme disease is transmitted primarily by the deer tick and is unfortunately common in this area. Dr. Leslie encourages you to speak with your regular veterinarian about ways to help protect your pets and horses.
