With over 15 years of experience in full-time and part-time roles at Woodland, Deanna brings a unique blend of skills as a seasoned surgery tech and sedated medical grooming expert. When not working, she enjoys hiking with her daughter and their two dogs. Deanna's professional interests focus on delivering exceptional hospice and end-of-life care to patients, as well as providing support to clients.

Meet April, our esteemed Office Manager and official "Chaos Coordinator" 🤪. A native of Linn, MO, April graduated from Helias High School in Jefferson City and went on to earn a Bachelors degree in Animal Science from the University of Missouri. Since joining Woodland Animal Hospital in 1998, April has played a pivotal role in the clinic's growth and development, working closely with Dr. Groner. As the clinic embarks on its next chapter under Dr. Roller's ownership, April is excited to continue wearing multiple hats and driving success. Outside of the office, April enjoys spending time with her husband, Mike, and their three children, as well as their two dogs and two cats. Her hobbies include traveling, reading, crocheting, and nurturing her extensive collection of houseplants.

Meet Mercedes Buschjost, RVT, a dedicated and compassionate animal care professional. Mercedes joined our team as a kennel assistant while still in high school and went on to earn her Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology from Crowder College in Neosho, MO 🎓. With a special interest in surgical and dental procedures, Mercedes is committed to ensuring the safety and comfort of your pets during anesthesia 😴. Mercedes and her husband, Alex, are expecting their first child in early December 🩷, and although she has temporarily stepped back from anesthetic procedures, she looks forward to resuming her duties soon.
Outside of work, Mercedes enjoys spending time with her two cats, Floyd and Flora, antiquing, tending to their cattle herd, and nurturing her houseplants.

It takes time, effort, and a whole lot of self control to get to your goal weight. You can't just wake up and expect to fit into those skinny jeans from high school (unless you're a wizard, in which case, teach me your ways! ⚡️).

Meet Dr. Zachary Guhlincozzi, DVM, a trailblazing veterinarian who's redefining the future of animal care! With a strong foundation in biochemistry and genetics from Texas A&M University and a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Illinois, Dr. Guhlincozzi is driven to make a difference. With experience treating wildlife from his student days and experience in a 24-hour emergency clinic during the pandemic, he has the skills to tackle even the toughest challenges. Now, as part of our team, Dr. Guhlincozzi is passionate about staying at the forefront of cytology and microscopic diagnostics, with a special interest in cardiological diagnostics using ultrasound. When he's not changing lives, you can find him rock climbing or enjoying quality time with his wife and their two furry friends 🐈💕.

🩷 A New Chapter at Woodland Animal Hospital 🩷

After 11 years at Woodland Animal Hospital, I’m incredibly excited—and a little emotional—to share that I am now the proud owner of the practice!!!

For the past three years, I’ve had the privilege to work alongside Dr. Groner and learn not only the business side of veterinary medicine, but also what it truly means to care for a practice, its people, and the community it serves. I’m so grateful she trusted me to carry Woodland forward, and I’m excited that this transition allows her to enjoy some well-deserved time for herself.

Woodland has always felt like more than just a place to work. From the very beginning, 11 yrs ago, I felt welcomed and truly became part of the 'Woodland family'. The relationships I’ve built with our incredible team, our clients, and of course, all of the beloved pets we care for are what make this place so special to me.

It is an honor to continue the tradition of compassionate, high-quality veterinary care that Dr. Groner created here. My hope is to preserve what makes Woodland special while continuing to grow and create that same feeling of family for everyone who walks through our doors.
