Bent Tree Animal Shelter Pet Of The Week:

This beautiful girl was recently returned to the shelter through no fault of her own. Unfortunately circumstances in the adopter’s home had deteriorated making the situation very stressful for her. She is very friendly & affectionate, she originally came to us in Jan 2025 from a distressing hoarding situation. She needs a stable, loving home. Must be indoor only.

Butterscotch is a spayed, female calico that is 2-3 years old. She is microchipped & up to date on all her vaccines. If you can give this gorgeous girl the home she deserves please contact Luann Chambers 678-414-1047 to set up a time to visit.

Friday FURKID:

If you love handsome guys who are always happy and all about having fun, you should meet Paskal, the 2-year old, 20 pound, low-rider who never meets a stranger; human or
canine. We discovered that Paskal is heartworm positive and has already finished the first part of his treatment. The worst, most painful part is coming up soon. We’d love to see him in
a home where he can get the rest and relaxation as he recovers from the 2 shots (one in each hip). It’d be great if you fall in love with those beautiful amber eyes and auburn coat and offer a furever home but at this time, a temporary foster home would be welcome too. We do offer a 30-day trial adoption too!

Homeward Bound Pet Rescue, Inc. is located in Blue Ridge, Gilmer Co., Georgia. We are a volunteer run organization that was established in 2000 and have successfully found forever homes for thousands of unwanted cats and dogs. We meet by appointment only. Our pets are up to date on vaccinations, monthly preventatives, spayed and neutered (unless otherwise disclosed due to illness or age).

Friday FURKID :

If you love little dogs who are a lot of fun with people and other dogs, you should do yourself a favor and meet Bijou, a happy, well-adjusted 1 ½ year old who, up until recently, didn’t know what a toy was or how to play. It was only 6 months ago that she and her family came to HB.
They were hairless, scared of everything and everyone. It took weeks of gentle touches and soothing voices to teach them that people can be kind and caring. That is all in her rearview mirror and ready to start her new life! She has been living in a foster home and also enjoys meeting new friends at a doggy daycare!

Let’s talk about teeth. So many of us break off the plaque with our dogs teeth but the real problem is under the gum line. It is shocking how much damage sub-gingival infections can cause to the roots and the bone surrounding them. We had a case last week where the dogs jaw literally broke because of the bone loss. The first picture shows the broken jaw and how much bone loss is around the tooth. The rest of the pictures shows bone loss around the infected root. NONE of these pets acted painful or seemed sick. The final picture shows some tartar, nothing too crazy but once we sedated it was shocking the root and bone damage. Dental health is really important…
