He is roughly 4y/9m. Intact. Cats are a no, he's very reactive to them. He lived with a male boxer until he passed in February. He had their little spats, but nothing terrible. He's a dominant guy. He's good home security but good to snuggle. He has calmed down some since becoming the only dog in the house. Kennel and potty trained.

Shaemus is a 2 yr old Great Pyrenese/ Husky/Heeler cross. UTD on shots and neutered. House and crate-trained. He generally gets along with other dogs, but will chase cats. We do have cats and while he's never hurt them, I wouldn't trust him with unfamiliar cats.

He has been very loving and affectionate with our family, but he does not do well with strangers. For that reason, he needs to go to a home without children. He has reactivity issues, and it's become too much for us. He needs someone with the patience and knowledge to work with him on these issues. He does know some basic commands, but doesn't care to listen unless treats are involved, haha.

A small rehoming fee is required, and he will come with his crate, favorite blanket and a bag of food. Courtesy post ! We do not have this dog in our rescue . If interested reach out to us and we will put you in touch with the owner .

Adopted!

Hi, I’m Sprinkle Puff (60651292), a perfectly sized 33-lb scoop of sweetness just waiting to sprinkle a little extra joy into your life! I’m a 2 year old Husky mix with a gentle heart, a happy spirit, and I already know SIT (because I love making my people proud). I’m the kind of girl who’s ready to puff up your days with smiles, love, and loyal companionship. I just need a family to call my own. If your home could use a little extra sweetness on top, I think I’m the Sprinkle you’ve been waiting for.

Approximately 10,000 to 15,000 Siberian Huskies are surrendered to shelters each year in the U.S.

This averages to about 800 to 1,250 Huskies surrendered monthly.

Surrenders often peak during summer months due to increased breeding and abandonment.

Many owners cite behavioral issues or inability to manage the breed's energy levels.

Adoption rates for Huskies can vary, impacting shelter populations.

Local shelter statistics may differ based on region and breed popularity.

What can we do?

Good breeders always take back their dogs. If you don't, don't breed. Good ones do not fill up shelters with their dogs, or let their buyers do it.

If you want to buy a dog, really really check out who you are getting from and educate yourself, too, on good breeders AND on what to truly expect when you get a husky.

There are tons of rescues doing their best to help. They have a bucket. They're trying to stop a water fall. Huskies are being k1lled daily in shelters across the country.

People adopt them and they can sometimes be nippy, they definitely need supervision until you've trained them, and they get a lot of naughty characteristics if they aren't being trained and enriched/got their wiggles out. Many families don't realize how much work they will be.

So what can we do? Just share, explain, educate, and adopt if you can.
