🐾❤️ Miss Belle left us this morning, and this one was especially close to my heart.
Belle came to us at 4 years old from a severe hoarding situation. She had likely spent most of her life confined to a crate and had very little experience with the world around her. On top of that, she is mostly blind, which made everything even more overwhelming and frightening for her.
Over the course of her training, we worked through so many fears together. We learned what worked best for Belle, adjusted our approach to meet her needs, and celebrated every small victory along the way. Her journey is a perfect example of why it's so important to train the dog in front of you—not the dog in a textbook, not the dog someone else trained, but the individual dog standing right in front of you.
Belle's training was built around positive reinforcement (+R) because that was what helped her gain confidence, trust, and understanding. It was the right approach for her.
With so much discussion lately about training methods and tools, I wish we could all agree on one thing: every dog is different. Different histories, different temperaments, different challenges, and different needs. Good training is about understanding the dog in front of you and choosing the methods that help that individual dog succeed.
I'm incredibly proud of how far Belle has come. Watching her leave today more confident than when she arrived is why I love what I do.

🌴🐾 Vacation Notice from 4Paws Training Academy 🐾🌴
Dear 4Paws Family,
I wanted to let everyone know that I will be out of town from Sunday through Wednesday evening for a much-needed vacation and time to recharge.
Please rest assured that all boarding and training dogs will continue to receive the same excellent care and attention, as I have trusted staff members staying on-site with your beloved fur babies. Training will continue as usual while I am away.
I will do my best to keep everyone updated, but please be patient with response times. If you need to reach me, please text 270-566-7131 and I will respond as soon as I am able.
📍 Pickup Hours (Sunday–Wednesday): • 9:00 AM OR • 4:00 PM
🐶 Daycare Notice: There will be NO daycare on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday.
✅ Normal business hours and daycare will resume on Thursday.
Thank you all for your understanding, support, and trust in 4Paws Training Academy. Your dogs are family to us, and they will be well cared for while I take a few days to relax and recharge.
