Second half of our 17 and a half hour day: Just look at this big sausage π Richard Benish had taken Otis to the vet on June 1st . When he was leaving he fell and Otis was able to slip his collar and run off behind Moonbrook Veterinary Hospital . When the staff was alerted that Richard had fallen they were able to go out and get him up off the ground and they all started searching for Otis but he was nowhere to be found .Otis had ran down into a cow pasture and down into a Dry Creek bed where Richard lost him at that point. Selena Maria Myers an employee at the vet's office reached out and asked if we could help we went up that evening and set up a food plot and a camera behind the vet's office because we thought that Otis would return to the spot where he went missing which happens very often, but unfortunately he did not. We could not fly the Drone because we were right next to the airport so airspace was restricted . The next day Richard as well as myself walked the whole Dry Creek bed because we thought that he possibly had fallen into it and with his short little legs could not climb out we walk through the exact same area where I trapped him but he was not there at that time . A couple of days went by without a single sighting of Otis so Vicki reached out to Amy Rowen who has a trained scent dog and believe it or not his name is Otis as well βΊοΈ Amy came down on the very next day which was day four of him being gone. Amy used scented articles from Otis ,one being his collar and the other being a blanket . Her dog was able to pick up his scent and they went out to start their search . Amy's Otis picked up heavy scent along most of the dry creek bed especially in one particular area behind a farm to the left of the vet's office ,so I went down there the next morning set up a food station and a camera down in the creek bed in quite a deep ravine because there was a small little water hole underneath a fallen log that we thought he was probably using as his water source. The next morning lo and behold Otis showed up so immediately got the Trap set up and got out of there Otis came back many hours later but he wasn't thrilled with the trap, when we set out there was no hot rotisserie chickens to be had it 7:00 am so we had to use hot dogs for bait he wasn't impressed and something spooked him away from the trap so on the way back from Cherry Creek after trapping Benny I said to one of our Dames Tracy Horner who was along for the ride because she is on light duty due to a back injury, we need to get a hot rotisserie chicken because I knew that would get this boy in the Trap. We waited a while but he didn't show up right away so we all went home we were just getting into our pajamas about 10:15 pm when a camera notification went off. When I tuned into the live feed there was Otis he was already in the trap having a nice chicken dinner π I immediately called Richard and he was so happy and we all rushed up there but we were trying to figure out how the heck we were going to get him out of the ravine, because we weren't about to take him out of the Trap and risk him getting away before we were inside of four walls!!! So I asked Richard to check with some of his neighbors and some nice young men came up and carried him out of the ravine for us and we thank them for that !!! Otis is so happy to be home, he just followed Richard around the house just wagging his tail as you will see below in some of the videos in the comments, a very happy reunion .Richard rescued Otis 6 years ago I believe from a breeding facility and we are so happy that we could reunite these two. He means the world to Richard π₯Ή A huge thank you to Amy and Otis for doing such a tremendous job at locating the area where Otis was, GREAT JOB π and thank you to Selena for reaching out to us for help. And thank you Otis for helping to save Otis π
