IMPOSSIBLE TO IGNORE. 🐾

Every dog deserves a chance, and sometimes all it takes is someone willing to see their potential.

Working with Rescue 22, I get to see firsthand what a second chance can mean for a dog. Chief, pictured here, is currently training to become a service dog for a veteran. Dogs like him are a reminder of why the work we do matters so much.

That’s why I was excited when Rare Breed Dog Treats and Stray Project reached out and sent me this crewneck to help promote their campaign.

In honor of National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, they’ve teamed up to bring awareness to shelter dogs across the country while doing something to help them.

🐾 80 meals donated for every item purchased from their limited-edition collection.

🐾 10 meals donated just for signing up for the campaign. No purchase necessary.

I spend my days working with dogs, and one thing I’ve learned is that you can’t always judge a dog’s potential by where they came from.

Not every rescue dog will become a service dog, but every single one deserves an opportunity to find where they belong.

Today, SDiT Beans (Gunner) and I had the honor of running The Mogadishu Mile. 🇺🇸

2.4 miles in remembrance of the men of Operation Gothic Serpent and the warriors who fought through the Battle of Mogadishu on October 3rd, 1993.

What happened that day didn’t end when the shooting stopped. The battles our veterans carry home with them are very real, and far too many have been lost since.

Proud to put some miles in today alongside Beans and support the mission of the All Secure Foundation. Remember the fallen. Support those still fighting. Never forget. 🇺🇸🐕‍🦺

Huge update from the Marge world! The days of casts and heavy bandages are officially over, along with the strict kennel rest!

She’s no longer a limited-duty commando and has officially upgraded to light-duty warrior! 🤣🤣

Thank you to everyone for the continued prayers, messages, and for checking in on her. We’re not done yet, but we’re one step closer! 🙏🐾

🚨 PLEASE SHARE — CONNIE NEEDS HER FOREVER HOME! 🚨

Meet Connie, a beautiful 5-year-old Belgian Malinois who was rescued from California by Rescue 22 Foundation and is now looking for the right family to call her own.

Connie absolutely loves people and would thrive with an active owner or family who understands the energy and drive that comes with a Malinois. She has been working on obedience and house manners and is an awesome dog with so much personality.

A few important things about Connie:

• She is incredible with people
• She has done great around my 8-, 6-, and 4-year-old children
• She needs to be the ONLY dog in the home
• Connie is dog aggressive, but it is manageable in public with proper handling and training. This will be something her adopter needs to understand and manage for the rest of her life.

For those who don’t know us, Rescue 22 Foundation is a nonprofit organization that rescues dogs and trains suitable candidates to become service dogs for veterans at no cost to the veteran. I work with Rescue 22 as one of their trainers.

There is a rehoming fee, but that money goes directly back to Rescue 22 Foundation to help continue the mission. Nobody is profiting from Connie’s adoption.

Connie is an awesome dog who just needs the right home and the right person.

🐾 Mr. Bruno is looking for his forever home! 🐾

About three weeks ago, Rescue 22 Foundation pulled Bruno from a rescue in Texas so he could be evaluated as a potential Service Dog.

Bruno is a 1.5-year-old Lab/Great Pyrenees mix, and after spending the last few weeks working with him, I’ve decided the Service Dog life just isn’t the right fit for him — and that’s okay.

Bruno is an incredibly sweet dog who is great with kids, extremely dog social, and good with people. He does have some fear and confidence issues from a lack of exposure, and men need to move a little slower with him at first, but he has shown zero intention to bite.

Bruno doesn’t need a job — he needs a family.

He needs someone patient and consistent who will continue helping him build confidence and show him the world isn’t such a scary place. A home with another confident, social dog would be a huge plus.

Bruno will also come with follow-on training lessons and continued support to help make his transition into his new home successful.

He’s had enough change in his short life. My hope is that the next place he goes is the place he gets to stay. ❤️

Marge update ❤️

Her cast came off today! Some staples came out… and somehow some more got added 😂

The good news is about 70% of her skin reattached and is healthy and healing really well. The other 30% didn’t completely die, but we are going to have some pretty decent scabbing and continued healing ahead of us.

Overall, though, I couldn’t be more thankful for where we are. Considering what her leg looked like two weeks ago, seeing this much healthy tissue and progress is such a blessing.

Fair warning: if you’re squeamish, don’t keep swiping 😅 The photos after the first one are going to show the progression—from the pictures the vet took today all the way back to the day I brought her in.

Still a ways to go, but this girl is tough. One day at a time. ❤️

Thank you to everyone who has prayed for her, checked on her, and continued to ask about our girl. God has been incredibly good to us through all of this. 🙏

Marge Update ❤️🐾

Welp… we didn’t quite get the news we were hoping for today. There was an infection starting to grow, so baby girl will be staying at the hospital for another 48 hours while they hit it hard with IV antibiotics.

The good news is her drain tubes are OUT, her leg is healing, and we caught the infection so they can get on top of it. ❤️

Definitely a little heartbreaking having to leave her there again after getting her home for the weekend, but I know she’s exactly where she needs to be.

Thank you so much to everyone who has checked on her, prayed for her, and continued loving on our girl from afar. Please keep those prayers coming that the antibiotics knock this infection out and Marge can come home for good next time. 🙏❤️🐾

Baby girl is HOME where she belongs! ❤️❤️

We go back Monday to get her tubes taken out and make sure no infection is trying to grow, but for this weekend, she gets to be home resting and healing. 🙏🐾

After everything she’s been through, seeing her back home feels pretty damn good.

And seriously, thank you to every single person who has prayed for Marge, checked on her, sent messages, and kept our family in your thoughts. The love and support have meant more than I can put into words. Please keep those prayers coming as she continues to heal. ❤️🙏

God has been so good to us through all of this. ❤️

Yesterday was one of the worst days I’ve had in a long time.

And before the armchair quarterbacks show up—I know I didn’t do everything perfectly. Chaos doesn’t give you time to be perfect.

I’m sharing this because really bad s**t can happen anytime, anywhere, and you need to be prepared.

Marge got her front leg stuck in our fence and degloved it from basically her elbow to her paw.

By the grace of God, I found her immediately.

I grabbed her, got to my med bag, assessed the injury, stretched the skin back over her leg, and applied a pressure dressing to control the bleeding.

My kiddos stepped up HUGE through all of it, and I couldn’t be more proud of them.

After getting Marge stabilized locally, we made the hour-and-45-minute drive to the trauma center, where she went into surgery.

They were able to save and reattach about 90% of her skin. 🙏

Now we pray the skin survives and infection stays the hell away.

It’s going to be a long recovery…

But she still has her leg.

And we still have Marge.

I’ll take that win every damn day. ❤️
