šŸ¾ Mr. Bruno is looking for his forever home! šŸ¾

About three weeks ago, Rescue 22 Foundation pulled Bruno from a rescue in Texas so he could be evaluated as a potential Service Dog.

Bruno is a 1.5-year-old Lab/Great Pyrenees mix, and after spending the last few weeks working with him, Iā€™ve decided the Service Dog life just isnā€™t the right fit for him ā€” and thatā€™s okay.

Bruno is an incredibly sweet dog who is great with kids, extremely dog social, and good with people. He does have some fear and confidence issues from a lack of exposure, and men need to move a little slower with him at first, but he has shown zero intention to bite.

Bruno doesnā€™t need a job ā€” he needs a family.

He needs someone patient and consistent who will continue helping him build confidence and show him the world isnā€™t such a scary place. A home with another confident, social dog would be a huge plus.

Bruno will also come with follow-on training lessons and continued support to help make his transition into his new home successful.

Heā€™s had enough change in his short life. My hope is that the next place he goes is the place he gets to stay. ā¤ļø

Marge update ā¤ļø

Her cast came off today! Some staples came outā€¦ and somehow some more got added šŸ˜‚

The good news is about 70% of her skin reattached and is healthy and healing really well. The other 30% didnā€™t completely die, but we are going to have some pretty decent scabbing and continued healing ahead of us.

Overall, though, I couldnā€™t be more thankful for where we are. Considering what her leg looked like two weeks ago, seeing this much healthy tissue and progress is such a blessing.

Fair warning: if youā€™re squeamish, donā€™t keep swiping šŸ˜… The photos after the first one are going to show the progressionā€”from the pictures the vet took today all the way back to the day I brought her in.

Still a ways to go, but this girl is tough. One day at a time. ā¤ļø

Thank you to everyone who has prayed for her, checked on her, and continued to ask about our girl. God has been incredibly good to us through all of this. šŸ™

Marge Update ā¤ļøšŸ¾

Welpā€¦ we didnā€™t quite get the news we were hoping for today. There was an infection starting to grow, so baby girl will be staying at the hospital for another 48 hours while they hit it hard with IV antibiotics.

The good news is her drain tubes are OUT, her leg is healing, and we caught the infection so they can get on top of it. ā¤ļø

Definitely a little heartbreaking having to leave her there again after getting her home for the weekend, but I know sheā€™s exactly where she needs to be.

Thank you so much to everyone who has checked on her, prayed for her, and continued loving on our girl from afar. Please keep those prayers coming that the antibiotics knock this infection out and Marge can come home for good next time. šŸ™ā¤ļøšŸ¾

Baby girl is HOME where she belongs! ā¤ļøā¤ļø

We go back Monday to get her tubes taken out and make sure no infection is trying to grow, but for this weekend, she gets to be home resting and healing. šŸ™šŸ¾

After everything sheā€™s been through, seeing her back home feels pretty damn good.

And seriously, thank you to every single person who has prayed for Marge, checked on her, sent messages, and kept our family in your thoughts. The love and support have meant more than I can put into words. Please keep those prayers coming as she continues to heal. ā¤ļøšŸ™

God has been so good to us through all of this. ā¤ļø

Yesterday was one of the worst days Iā€™ve had in a long time.

And before the armchair quarterbacks show upā€”I know I didnā€™t do everything perfectly. Chaos doesnā€™t give you time to be perfect.

Iā€™m sharing this because really bad s**t can happen anytime, anywhere, and you need to be prepared.

Marge got her front leg stuck in our fence and degloved it from basically her elbow to her paw.

By the grace of God, I found her immediately.

I grabbed her, got to my med bag, assessed the injury, stretched the skin back over her leg, and applied a pressure dressing to control the bleeding.

My kiddos stepped up HUGE through all of it, and I couldnā€™t be more proud of them.

After getting Marge stabilized locally, we made the hour-and-45-minute drive to the trauma center, where she went into surgery.

They were able to save and reattach about 90% of her skin. šŸ™

Now we pray the skin survives and infection stays the hell away.

Itā€™s going to be a long recoveryā€¦

But she still has her leg.

And we still have Marge.

Iā€™ll take that win every damn day. ā¤ļø

Yesterday was one of the worst days Iā€™ve had in a long time.

Freak accidents happen, and sometimes thereā€™s literally nothing you can do to stop them. You can do everything right and s**t can still happen. All you can do is be prepared when it does and pray to God youā€™re in the right place at the right time.

Yesterday, Marge, my Dutch Shepherd, got her front leg stuck between the slats of our fence. When she ripped herself free, she degloved her entire front left leg from basically her elbow all the way down to her paw.

By the grace of God, I found her immediately.

I donā€™t even want to think about what couldā€™ve happened if I found her 5 or 10 minutes later.

I grabbed her and carried her straight to my van. At first I panicked and thought I needed a tourniquet, and unfortunately the only dog tourniquet I had was in my med bag in the van. That will never happen again.

Of course my van was locked lol, but my kiddos stepped up HUGE. They got it unlocked and got me to my med bag while I held Marge.

Once I could actually assess the injury, I realized a tourniquet wasnā€™t needed. I stretched the skin back over her leg, wrapped it in gauze, and applied a pressure dressing to stop the bleeding.

Meanwhile, my kiddos got their shoes on and got themselves into the van. They saw way more than I ever wanted them to see, but I couldnā€™t be more proud of how they handled it.

I dropped them off with Mom and headed to a local vet to make sure Marge was stable enough for the hour-and-45-minute drive to the trauma center. My dressing was holding, they gave her pain meds and antibiotics, and we got back on the road.

Once we got to the trauma center, they took her into surgery.

By the grace of God, they were able to save and reattach about 90% of her skin. šŸ™

She now has two drain tubes and, if everything continues going the right direction, she should come home Friday. We have a long recovery ahead of us. Now we need that skin to survive and infection to stay the hell away.

But she still has her leg.

And we still have Marge.

Iā€™ll take that win every damn day.

She came to me as the sweetest girl, but letā€™s just say she thought manners wereā€¦ optional. šŸ˜… Over the last few weeks sheā€™s put in the work, her family has put in the work, and now theyā€™ve got the knowledge and confidence to keep building on everything she learned.

Watching dogs succeed is awesome, but watching families learn how to communicate with their dogs is what makes this job worth it. ā¤ļø

No, I didnā€™t get banned. šŸ˜‚
No, I didnā€™t quit training dogs.
No, I wasnā€™t finally humbled by a Chihuahua. Yes, the service dogs are still getting trained

Iā€™m just taking a little break from social media until my kiddos head back to school.

The dogs can waitā€¦ my kids only get one summer, and Iā€™m gonna soak up every bit of it. ā¤ļø

šŸšØ Everyone meet Ms. Connie! šŸ¾ā¤ļø

This beautiful 5-year-old Belgian Malinois is looking for her forever home.

Connie was rescued from California by Angela C , and now sheā€™s spending some time with me and the awesome Trainer Amy while we polish up her obedience, house manners, and help set her future family up for success.

The best part? She absolutely adores people. She loves hard, wants to be with her humans, and would thrive in an active home that enjoys getting out and doing life together. Weā€™ve also started introducing her to kids, and so far sheā€™s been wonderful with my 8, 6, and 4-year-olds.

Now for the honest partā€”because Connie deserves the right home.

She needs to be the only dog in the household. While her dog aggression can be managed very well in public with proper handling and training, it will always be something her family needs to understand and respect. Weā€™re not looking for a perfect homeā€”weā€™re looking for the right home.

Every dog deserves someone who sees their worth beyond their challenges, and Connie has so much love left to give.
