Hi all! Just a quick clarification, I don’t offer or teach group classes. My work is focused entirely on private, individualized training tailored to each dog and client in their home.

Reactivity is so interesting. It can happen because a dog is under socialized, over socialized, had a negative experience, or even out of seemingly nowhere. I’ve had my personal dog for about three years now and when she first came to us, she had zero reactivity. Nothing has happened between then and now aside from her just getting older. However within the last 4 to 6 weeks, we have seen some mild to moderate reactivity. So now we’re working on it. I think this is one of my favorite videos I did because reactivity affects so many of us and owners understanding it is the first step to helping your dog work through it.

Reactivity 101:1) Your dog is not protecting you2) Anxiety is the root cause3) Understand behavior threshold 4) Positive association over correction5) Have t...

Why do small dogs seem to bite more than big dogs?

It’s not that small dogs are meaner or more dangerous. The truth is:

Small dogs feel more vulnerable. The world is big and scary when you’re only a few pounds, so fear-based reactions are more common.

Owners often let bad behavior slide. A Chihuahua growling or nipping doesn’t seem as threatening as a Rottweiler doing the same thing. Many people don’t set the same rules or boundaries, so the habits go unchecked.

They get picked up too often. Constantly scooping up a dog can make them feel trapped or defensive, which leads to biting when they want space.

They learn what works. If snapping makes the “threat” go away, the behavior gets reinforced.

👉 The takeaway: any dog, big or small, can bite. The difference is that small dogs are allowed to practice the behavior more often without correction.

If you live with a little dog, set the same standards you would for a large one—clear rules, consistent training, and respect for their boundaries. That’s how you get safety and harmony in your home.

MDMT’s Valentine’s Day Foster Dog Spotlight✨

Marley and Bella are 2-3 yrs old and in need of a new forever home. Sadly their owner had decided on a lifestyle change that no longer had room for them. He said he has had them since they were puppies and they are from the same litter, crazy. He said he tried a shelter but since they were full, he decided he couldn’t find a new home and was on his way to s***t them. My clients stepped up to save them and is temporarily fostering them. Below is their information per the foster parents.

MARLEY 💙
Housebroken
Not crate trained
Friendly with other dogs
Very people friendly, have not had him around kids. He is very big so maybe older kids would be best.
Marley is very calm on the leash even when there are distractions. He just likes to be right next to you.
Marley has been with his sister his whole life, if separated he will need help dealing with the change. Marley has had basic training and is picking things up quickly.
Marley is fun loving, sociable and a huge fan of snuggling!
Even though Marley hasn’t had the greatest start in life, he has kept that lovable lab personality. You can’t help but smile when you are around him. His best life would be someone that wants an active, playful dog that loves lots of snuggles.

BELLA 💖
Housebroken
Not crate trained
Friendly with other dogs
Bella is very people focused, not sure how she is around kids.
Bella loves to go for walks and is very calm on the leash even with distractions.
Bella has been with her brother her whole life, if separated she will need help dealing with the change. Bella has had basic training and is a very quick learner!
She is a little squirrel obsessed. We were told she will chase chickens but never hurt one. I think she would have to be introduced to cats properly. Would benefit from impulse control training. Positive reinforcement only. She is smart and sensitive.
Bella is very sweet, playful and eager to please her people.
Bella is a very special dog, if you want a running partner, a dog to do agility, fly ball or some other athletic thing, this is your girl. She wants a job and lit up when the trainer was working with her. At the end of the day she turns into a couch potato that thinks she is a tiny lap dog.

Foster or adopter desperately needed. 🐶🐶🩶

From one of my long time dear clients…
“Marley and Bella are 2-3 yrs old and in need of a new forever home. Yesterday we found out their owner had decided on a lifestyle change that no longer had room for them. He said he has had them since they were puppies and they are from the same litter. He said he tried a shelter but since they are full he decided he couldn’t find a new home and was going to euthanize them himself. 💔 We said we would take them and find them a home. We already have 3 so we can’t keep them. What we know about them so far is: they are very sweet, walk calmly on a leash, show no aggression to our dogs - we have kept them separate but they can see each other thru a divider. They are more curious than anything. We were told Bella will chase chickens and cats, but cannot confirm that. She also does NOT like a bath so will need some help overcoming that. Bella is spayed but Marley needs to be neutered. Not sure about being housebroken, they have had some accidents but that could be from stress. They come when called, respond to Sit. I don’t think these 2 have had much training but they seem very smart and eager to please. Our preference would be that they stay together but I think they are still young enough that they could split up. We will get them in to our vet for a check up. The “owner” says they are up to date on shots/heartworm but I’m not sure how reliable that is. They also are underweight right now. If interested, please contact Hank or Lisa Gibson, 904-738-3240 or 904-349-5098.
