FFFF! Yes, cats are trainable. And this is best done by rewarding the behaviors you want to see. Cats do great with positive reinforcement and terribly with negative reinforcement, so use treats and petting and praise and play instead of water bottles and harsh voices.😺😺😺

A few staff members and I paid a visit to the brand new, newly open Cool Cats Cat cafe right here in Jacksonville over lunch today. They have several adoptable cats from Onslow County Animal Services right now. So if you're in the adoption frame of mind, call and make an appointment to meet your potential new best friend in a much more relaxed environment. This type of setting really lets the cat's personality shine when they aren't stressed in a shelter environment. And even if you aren't looking to adopt, they have some really cool merch available to buy that supports the cats. I may or may not have purchased cat stuff. Yes, I have a problem with that. 😸😸😸

FFFF! Not all cats are comfortable being picked up and held. That doesn't mean they don't love you or enjoy your presence, it just may not be something that they enjoy. 😺😺😺

😻 We love giving our cats affection, but it’s important to understand how they may react. If your cat is comfortable being picked up, use both hands to support their back legs and body. Hold your cat close to your body to help them feel safe; avoid letting them dangle in the air.

Happy last day to Elizabeth, who has been with us for the last 2.5 years. We're going to miss her as she moves to Pennsylvania. We wish her the best, and got her a goodbye cake from American Dream Cakes, Bakery. No, it didn't come half eaten. We did that before we thought to take a picture. 😻😻
