Saturday was the last day of our picking season for 2026 and despite the weather forecast was a great day at the farm. We harvested 1900 pounds this year which considering 14 freezes and record drought we were thankful to have a season this year. This is about half of our typical harvest but many families enjoyed a day outside in the field and in the kids play and parents relax area. A Big Thank You to our volunteers this year and will be posting opportunities for preparation for next year. See pic of a single sunflower that popped up on row 5 and a pic of new berry blooms already which is unusual.

We have posted the signups for our last week of picking with 30 slots per hour. Saturday was a good day with one lady picking 8 pounds and most 2-3 pounds and was a beautiful overcast day with a nice breeze. The birds have migrated North or the propane cannon was really effective. We got a nice rain last night which will help plump and ripen the remaining berries. Tshirts on sale for $5, about 30 1 gallon bushes left, and pop fusion popsicles restocked. Come fill the sand.box.with your kids and enjoy the shade, pavilion, and porch swings.

We are mid season and have picked about 1500 pounds of blueberries. Hoping to hit 2000 by the end of the season which is about half of our yearly average. We are thankful for what we have picked despite record freezes and drought and for the many families that have come out to enjoy the farm. We did get our propane cannon installed and is working fairly well keeping the birds away. We have dropped our reservation counts to allow the remaining berries to ripen and last picking day is May 30th. We are selling some of our blueberry bushes in 1 gal ($12), 15 gal ($30), and 25 gal ($50) pots. We have reduced all T shirts to just $5 so get one before we sell out.

Saturday was a good day at the farm after all. Most of our reserved spots did come to pick. Picked about 225 pounds compared to 500 on opening day. So almost 1200 pounds so far this season. There are still many developing on the bushes. We posted slots for next week limiting to 50 to allow more to berries to mature. We did get our propane cannon but having some issues and the migratory birds have not migrated yet. We did have blueberry muffins and will have them again next Sat. Also working on a red white and blue smoothie. Thank you for all our visitors supporting BluByU.

Thank you to everyone that has supported BluByU for the past 11 years. It really is more than a blueberry farm and has been an annual event for many families. Many other memories with Petting Zoo, Festivals, Concerts, Movies, Dances, Farm to Table, Proposals, Weddings, Field Trips, Nature Trail, Camping, Harvest Host, Water Slides, Electric Cars, Fishing, Corn Hole, Volleyball, and the most favorite the Sand Box on the shade! We are in need of resources to maintain the farm to continue to provide a place for families to enjoy all the farm has to offer. If you have an interest in Agriculture or Agritourism reach out as we have some opportunities to share our farm resources. Pole Barn event management, Hydroponic production, Greenhouse growing, family gardens, Sunflower Maze, Raising Animals, Retail Country Store, Fruit and Vegetable stand, and the list goes on. We have the infrastructure but lack the resources to manage and maintain all the possibilities of the farm. So if you have a. Interest to create business that operates on the BluByU property reply, call, or text.

We wrapped up our first week of picking. Lots of blueberries and fun on the farm. We have been battling a migratory bird called a cedar wax wing. Cute yellow and brown bird but has ravished our field knocking off ripe berries. We have a predator bird caller, bird repellant, potato gun, whirley fan, and drone but none have been effective. We are hoping they will migrate North soon but their natural food is scarce due to drought. We have many ripening berries but need a week or more to be ready to pick. If you still want to come on your current reservation we just want to set expectations on the amount of berries we have. If you do not come on your current reservation we will move your reservation slot a week.

Thank you to all the families that came out to pick today even in the rain. No lightning and light rain so about 80% of our reservations came to pick. We are very thankful for the rain on Friday and Saturday. We saw lots of cool rubber boots and full baskets of nice berries today. If you were not able to make it we will post reservations Sunday morning at 9 and you can rebook. We will discount your sale at the farm when you check out. Looking forward to a good harvest.
