Happy National Horse Day! 🐴💙

Let’s hear it for the ultimate coworkers!

Today, we are celebrating the nation's horses and the incredible role they play in the rapidly expanding Equine Assisted Services (EAS) industry. The most inspiring part of this growth is seeing the life-changing impact on our Veterans and First Responders. 🇺🇸 For many heroes battling PTSD, the human world can feel chaotic, but a horse offers calm, connection, and a completely judgment-free zone. They don't care where you've been, only where you are right now. We are seeing incredible success stories of vets rebuilding trust, lowering anxiety, and finding peace just by connecting with these sensitive, powerful animals.

At EDECI we offer professional, science-backed programs where horses are recognized partners in mental health and wellness. It’s science in action, but honestly, It feels a lot like magic. ✨The world is finally waking up to what we equestrians have known forever: sometimes the best "therapist" has four legs and eats hay!

Hi!! My name is Sandy Hebert. I am the Founder and Executive Director of Equine Driven Empowerment Center, Inc. (EDECI) located in Jacksonville, Florida. I founded EDECI after witnessing the life-altering impact connecting with horses has had for me personally, as well as many others who have struggled to meet life's challenges. While there are many equine-assisted service providers working with children and teens, there are few offering programs that focus on the unique challenges faced by today's adults. That's why I created EDECI.

EDECI is an adult-focused equine-assisted service provider offering a variety of EAL (Equine-Assisted Learning) programs including: Equine Driven Heroes - a program targeted to the needs of military veterans and first responders.

EAL utilizes fun experiential learning activities that incorporate Horsemanship, Groundwork, Riding & Driving into lessons aimed at promoting personal development.

Each guided 90-minute lesson begins with a 15-minute introduction to the day's topic and a short explanation of the lesson activity. The introduction is followed by a 60-minute equine interaction, during which the participant works directly with an equine partner on that day's activity. At the end of each lesson, the participant spends 15 minutes discussing the topic and reflecting on what they learned.

Topics include things such as:
Increasing Confidence, Compassion, & a Sense of Connection
Fostering Emotional Awareness & Self-Regulation
Improving Communication & Deep Listening Skills
Promoting Holistic Wellness

Lesson activities are centered around building Horsemanship skills through groundwork. As the student progresses, the activities may expand into Driving and/or Riding. Regardless of the chosen activity, the key focus is deepening the connection between the participant and their equine partner and exploring the personal insights that result.

I am so excited to announce that the Equine Driven Empowerment Center Inc. (EDECI) is now accepting applications for new program participants!!

EDECI is an Equine Assisted Service provider focused on promoting individual development through carefully designed equine interactions. In collaboration with our equine partners, participants explore topics such as Confidence, Communication, Teamwork / Herd Dynamic, Empathy, and Emotional Regulation. When experienced from the perspective of the horse, these activities often result in profound moments of personal growth.

Our 8-week, adult-oriented, introductory program offers private and semi-private lessons specifically designed to ensure each participant establishes the horsemanship skills needed to ensure their equine interactions are safe and enjoyable for both the participant and their equine partner. These 90-minute personalized lessons ensure program participants receive no less than 45 minutes of one-on-one equine interaction. Each interaction consists of an activity designed to challenge the participant not only to improve their horsemanship, but also to promote personal growth. Participants DO NOT RIDE the horses.

Following the completion of this 8-week introductory session, participants have the option of exploring a variety of equine assisted activities including delving deeper into Horsemanship & Groundwork, Learning to Drive, or Learning to Ride (qualified participants only). Regardless of which activity you choose to pursue - the focus of each lesson will continue to be on furthering personal development and advancing the life skills that contribute to your success!!
