PROTECT THE PAWS AND THE FEET!

Don't walk your pup in this kind of heat—especially in the middle of the afternoon on blacktop asphalt. That can burn in seconds!

If you are out mid-afternoon, keep some water with you and stay off the pavement if you can.

ALSO, on Saturday around the SEC, you will probably see the thermometer sitting on the green turf in the sun showing that it's actually 7,000 degrees—ok, maybe I'm being facetious, it's always about 120-130°F—down there at the field. It's a favorite of sports telecasts this time of year, but it's not quite accurate.

That thermometer is not measuring the air temperature when it is sitting on the field. It's measuring it's own temperature—how hot the materials that make it up are getting in the direct sunshine and some of the turf temperature itself.

The green turf probably is close to the temperature of asphalt, but the air temperature isn't 120 degrees.

Regardless, it's gonna be hot. Plan accordingly.

PLEASE DO NOT FEED THIS DOG Jacksonville Animal Control has a plan in place to catch this baby

I have a plan in place to catch this dog & currently is being executed. I’m asking everyone….PLEASE DO NOT feed her!!! I am providing food and water, but I need her to stay in a general location. Thank you for everyone’s cooperation. Fingers crossed she will be caught soon and returned home.

Update- Milo has been found and is safe at home

🚨 MISSING DOG – PLEASE HELP US FIND MILO 🐾

The Piedmont Police Department is asking for the community’s help locating Milo, a male Shorkie who has gone missing from his home in the Dailey Street area.

Milo has a loving family who is very worried about him and wants to get him home safely.

Please take a look at his picture and keep an eye out. If you see Milo, know where he may be, or have picked him up for safekeeping, please contact the Piedmont Police Department at 256-447-9091.
