Birch Island Veterinary Center is a long-time dream for our lead doctor Deanna Greer, who has been a Jacksonville native for over 20 years, and a veterinarian for almost 30 years! Our practice will strive to be the home away from home for your dogs, cats and small animal family members. Are your kids home from school for the summer and have free time? Do your plans include taking your pet(s) to the park regularly? While most interactions are 'paws-itive', warning signs are usually given if you know bodily behavior and what to look out for. Here are some helpful tips and signs to look out for when you are interacting with unknown dogs and in unfamiliar areas!
A gentle reminder to always make sure to provide your pet with ample water, shade, and rest as well during the high temperatures!

Brock (the bernedoodle) is a recent addition to our daycare regulars but is restricted from from our group play until he is neutered. (Male dogs 24 weeks and older are played as individuals until neutered.) He has, however, become best buddies with our staff dog Pumbaa so he still has someone to play with until his surgery is done!

Thinking of getting a new pet for the family? Consider adoption! Jacksonville has an overwhelming need for fosters or adopters for our local shelters and rescues. If you are unable to bring a new pet into the house, you are also able to help by donating funds or supplies, socializing with shelter dogs during events or seeing if you are able to take a pet out for a day date, and simply spreading awareness!
