We are officially✨offline✨.
We’re heading out to Springfield, MO for NADD Nationals‼️

Please be patient with us during this time, as we will be unavailable for the next week. We’ve worked incredibly hard this year to make this a reality, and I can’t wait to spend this time with my boys and show off everything we’ve worked for. If you want to catch the live stream, you can watch it on AKC.tv and the American Kennel Club YouTube page.

Wish us luck! 🍀

Today we said farewell to Sturgill after completing his 20 day board & train! 🎓

Sturgill is a very sweet boy with his trusted circle of people, but he struggles with reactivity toward strangers. Although he often communicated his discomfort through appropriate warnings, when his boundaries were not respected he did resort to warning bites.

From the beginning, it was clear that his behaviors were entirely fear-based.

Our focus throughout his training was to build his confidence, improve his ability to navigate stressful situations, and establish healthier ways to respond when feeling uncomfortable. We also introduced the crate to provide him with a safe, structured space to decompress and practice appropriate separation.

We understand that Sturgill will never be a dog who welcomes interaction with every person he encounters, and that’s okay. Our goal isn’t to change his personality or force unnecessary social interactions. It’s to help him feel more secure, recognize his boundaries, and give his owner the knowledge and tools to advocate for him effectively.

With clearer communication, appropriate boundaries, and consistency, Sturgill and his owner are better equipped to navigate the world together while prioritizing everyone’s safety and well-being. Good boy Sturgill 💙

We said farewell to Hazel tonight after completing her 30 day board & training (with a little extension 😉) 🎓

This girl was a TOUGH one to say goodbye to. She had a great foundation in obedience already, and the goal was to proof what she knew both on and off the leash. Her owner wants to enjoy every adventure he can with her, and we can’t wait to see what they’re up to in the future. Hazel was also my first board & train that wanted to focus on improving her dock diving skills. She absolutely BLEW us away, tying for first place in the Elite Division at her first event with seapawsaquatics with a 24ft jump. She’s been tracking the bumper successfully, and has big plans for the 2027 season. Her owner wants to join us at SEWE in Charleston for their annual dock dogs event, and we can’t wait to see her in that environment.

Her owner wants to keep up with her training and sign her up for some board & review in the future, and we can genuinely say we will be INCREDIBLY sad if he doesn’t keep that promise.

Be a good girl and jump big Hazel 💕🐕💦

Today we said farewell to Rocky after completing his 15 day board & train! 🎓

This little firecracker was an absolute blast to have during his stay. When he first started, he thought he was running the show! Barking at other dogs, marking in the house, and thought recalls and leash manners were just suggestions. We’ve given this guy a healthy new routine and added some structure to his daily routine to set him up for success. His owners want to take him on every adventure they can, and we can’t wait to see his updates. Good boy Rocky 💙

Please also welcome Rocky! 🐶

This little guy is joining us for the next 15 days for some basic obedience, structure, and — of course — a little reminder that being small doesn’t mean you get to make your own rules. 😂

Rocky is a young guy with two housemates, and when it comes to potty breaks, distractions are winning the battle. He’s still struggling with some inappropriate potty habits, so we’ll be implementing a much more structured schedule to help eliminate accidents and reinforce the habits we want to see.

We’ll also be working through the basics of obedience and introducing the e-collar as another communication tool. The goal is to build toward a reliable recall and, eventually, the freedom to safely enjoy some off-leash time in his owner’s yard.

Rocky may be tiny, but he certainly hasn’t gotten the memo. This guy walks around like he’s 10 times his size — so we’ll be putting that confidence to work!

Please welcome Sturgill! 🐶

This handsome guy is here for the next 20 days to brush up on some obedience and work on confidence building.

Sturgill struggles with fear-based reactivity and barrier aggression. When he feels pressured, he does give appropriate warnings and communicates that he’s uncomfortable. Those warnings are important — but our job is to teach him that he doesn’t have to escalate those behaviors to cope.

We’ll be working on building structure, clear communication, and healthy independence, while also respecting the fact that Sturgill has boundaries that need to be advocated for. Knowing when to create space and when to separate him from a situation will be just as important as teaching him how to work through one.

We’ll also be introducing the crate as a place to decompress and feel safe, giving Sturgill a predictable space where he can turn off, relax, and reset.

There’s no magic fix for these behaviors, and 20 days isn’t going to erase everything Sturgill struggles with. What we can do is give him better tools, build his confidence, and strengthen the relationship between him and his handler. 🐶

Today we said farewell to Clara after completing her 20 day board & train! 🎓

This big girl came to us still convinced she was a 20-pound puppy! Pulling like a freight train, launching herself at people, and using her mouth to make sure everyone knew when she wanted attention.

Our biggest focus with Clara was impulse control, leash manners, and learning how to navigate the world with a little more self-control.

Now she’s a well-mannered member of society who can enjoy more adventures with her owners without dragging them along for the ride. We’ve also put in a ton of work into her long line skills, and she is well on her way to earning that off-leash freedom! 🙌

This isn’t the end of Clara’s training journey—it’s the beginning of a new chapter. We’re excited to continue working with her and her owners, and she’ll be more than welcome back for future board & review work to keep those skills sharp.

Good girl Clara! 🩷🐶

Today we said farewell to Roo! 🎓

This girl was with us for a total of 4 weeks, with a little break in the middle. Roo was such a special, rewarding behavioral case to work with. She struggled with some serious barrier aggression which had led to some bites, and had very low confidence.

There is never going to be a “simple fix” for Roo’s behaviors. Her progress has come through exposure, structure, and learning that she can rely on her handler to advocate for her.

She has a new leash on life. 🖤

Her crate will continue to be an important safe space and management tool to help keep everyone safe. Her owners will continue to build her confidence and reinforce the expectations she has learned.

Roo isn’t going to be a “go everywhere and do everything” dog — and that’s okay. Success doesn’t always mean doing everything. It means finding what works for the individual dog and creating a healthier, more manageable relationship.

Roo is heading home with a new set of expectations, a stronger relationship with her people, and a much better understanding that she doesn’t have to handle everything on her own.

We’re so proud of this girl and excited to see her continue to grow! Good girl Roo! 🩵

Please welcome Teddy! 🐶

This handsome little dude is here for the next 15 days for a full foundation in obedience and impulse control. This little guy still has some puppy tendencies like chewing on hands, feet or any other body part that can fit in his mouth, and greeting his friends with some parkour-style hops. We’ll be working hard to eliminate those behaviors and give him some healthy outlets instead. We’ll be working around lots of different distractions while proofing his obedience, so that his owners can spend more time enjoying their walks and adventures instead of holding on for dear life to the furry little freight train dragging them around town. He’s such a smart boy with so much to offer and we can’t wait to watch his progress!

Please welcome miss Hazel! 🐕

This sweet girl is here for the next 30 days to refine her obedience both on and off the leash and to continue building her confidence on the dock. Hazel already has some obedience training and ecollar conditioning under her belt, so we’re going to expand upon those skills so that every adventure her family takes her on can be enjoyable. We’ll be working on eliminating some lingering puppy behaviors as well. She still thinks she’s 8 weeks old and that jumping up on her new friends is the best way to greet them, and that laundry and other household items are always up for grabs. She’s also recently started dock diving, and we’ll be putting in some reps and continuing to build her confidence so that she can compete! Her owners and I will be heading to seapawsaquatics for their final summer series event to give her a little taste of what that world is like, and see what next season holds for her as well!
