Did you know cats can actually sense the season changing before you do? 🍂

Shorter daylight hours trigger shifts in your cat's behavior, appetite, and sleep patterns. You might notice them eating a little more, sleeping longer, or seeking out warmer spots around the house as October sets in. It's completely normal and just their body responding to the change in light. 🐱

Deaf dogs are more common than most people realize, and many look and act no different than any other dog. Hearing loss can be present from birth or develop gradually with age, and certain breeds, including Dalmatians, Australian Shepherds, and some terriers, are more likely to be born at least partially deaf.

Watch for signs like not responding to their name, sleeping more deeply than usual, or startling easily. When approached with guided training and meaningful adjustments to care, you can create a safe environment where they can be happy, safe, and at peace.

Absolutely — I’d make the cat warning especially prominent while keeping the post focused on encouraging clients to contact **Animal Hospital at Oakleaf Plantation**.

🌧️🦟 **More Rain Means More Mosquitoes—and More Heartworm Risk!** 🦟🌧️

With all the recent rain, mosquito populations can increase, which also means an increased risk of **heartworm disease** for our pets.

❤️ **Both dogs AND cats can get heartworms.** And while there is treatment available for heartworm disease in dogs, **there is currently no approved treatment to eliminate adult heartworms in cats.** Prevention is truly the best protection for our feline friends.

🐶🐱 **Don’t wait until it’s too late!** Make sure your dog and cat are on a veterinarian-recommended, consistent heartworm prevention.

Not sure if your pet is protected or which prevention is right for them? **Reach out to Animal Hospital at Oakleaf Plantation—we’re here to help keep your pets safe and healthy!** 🐾

📞 Give us a call today to make sure your pet’s heartworm prevention is up to date.

Going to the veterinarian doesn't have to be a battle! 🐱✨

According to the Feline Veterinary Medical Association and International Society of Feline Medicine, reducing veterinary stress starts long before you arrive at the clinic. By making small adjustments at home, you protect your cat’s emotional health—and keep your own stress levels low, too.
