It’s a little crazy when you think about how much time, money, love and work, goes into a dove field that you’ll only hunt a few days out of the year. Months of work, seed, fuel, equipment, and more hours than I could keep track of, all to turn around and mow and burn it down for a little bird that I personally don’t even think taste that good. 😂
The field is only part of it. Between getting the property ready, organizing groups, planning meals, setting up stations, and handling all the little things that come with putting on an event, there’s been a whole lot poured into getting ready for opening day.
Opening day has always been a time to gather in the field with family and friends, catch up with people you haven’t seen in a while, and meet a few new ones. That’s the part I’ve been looking forward to through all this work. Seeing everybody pull in, hearing the stories, and watching people enjoy a day together makes me glad we put this hunt on.
I’m thankful for everyone who booked a spot, shared a post, told a buddy, or reached out about hunting with us. The amount of interest and support has meant a lot to me, and I’m already looking at ways to add more opportunities for next year.
I’m excited for opening day and the shoots ahead of us. More than anything, I’m ready to see memories being made again in the fields of Horse Swamp Hunting Preserve.
