There are friends, and there are FRIENDS. Thank you and for this painting! It’s been over a month since losing Kovi, and I still think about him damn near every moment of every day. There will never be another.

While this isn’t typically something I get involved in, please help find Dolly a new home (or just a foster)! My sister-in-law has custody of her, after a situation in which law enforcement removed Dolly from a home.

From my wife’s post:

Hi friends, calling on our networks! Please meet Dolly. She is a 2-3 yr old mix dog that is being held at the vet office where my sister works in GA - Kelly took custody of her based on her condition when she arrived at the vet. She is all healed up, super sweet and happy, and has the green light to find a new home now! I want to keep her naturally, but our house is tipping furry capacity. Dan will gift free training lessons to whoever adopts her if in the North FL area! Spread the word! ❤️🐶✨ Text or message me if you can be her Christmas angel.

General comments: needs reassurance when being introduced to other dogs, slow animal introductions recommended. Very affectionate with people, observed with new people (outside of vet office) over the weekend and did well. Did not display destructive/anxious behavior when left alone in confined area (room with door shut or room with gated door).

Large dogs: nervous reaction, may growl until comfortable, offer reassurance

Small dogs: does not seem to care as long as they don’t display aggressive behavior

Cats: does not seem to care as long as they don’t display aggressive behavior - example: a cat hissed at her and she growled in response

Yesterday we said goodbye to Kovi. It is impossible to put into words the overwhelming feeling of sadness right now. His mind was still so sharp, but his body was failing. While the pain for us is excruciating, Kovi left this world basking in the warm sunlight, feeling nothing but pure love, right till the end.

To say I owe him everything would be an understatement. He was a rock in the relationship built with my wife, and he was my partner in the truest sense of the word. His patience, enthusiasm and loyalty as I used him to hone my craft and build my business, can never be repaid. In training his focus was unbreakable. He never questioned my judgement, even when put in stressful or dangerous scenarios. He simply trusted, and did. His ability to read my mind was incredible. So many conversations were had without a single word spoken. He was so much more than a dog.

Outside of training, Kovi was the most incredible companion a family could ask for. While he loved to do everything a Malinois is built for, he also loved everyone he met. Everyone. He was genuine in all he did, and the immense gratitude that I feel for having had him in my life can never be fully expressed.

There’s so much more I want to say, but simply don’t have the words.

I love you, Kovi. Until we meet again…

In 2015 Coastal K9 was founded because I enjoyed training dogs, and was good at it.
