Part 2: demolition day. 🚜
After the indoor arena came down in the snowstorm, there wasn’t much we could do right away.
First, we had to wait.
The snow had to melt enough for workers to safely get in and actually see what we were dealing with. ❄️
And while we waited, the ideas started flowing.
Before the indoor arena was even fully knocked down, we were already dreaming, planning, and asking the big question:
What could this space become?
But along with all the ideas came one very real pressure…
The petting zoo was opening in early April, and we needed this space safe, clean, and ready in time. 🐐
And once the snow cleared, what was left was… a lot.
Twisted beams.
Broken pieces.
Construction debris.
A giant mess sitting right in the middle of the farm.
It was sad to see it like that, but once it was already down, we knew the only way forward was through.
So demolition day came. 🚧
And somehow, I got to drive the machine and smash part of it myself. 😂
There was something kind of crazy about sitting there, knocking down pieces of the indoor arena we had spent so much time talking about, worrying about, and trying to figure out.
It was messy.
It was loud.
It was dusty.
And honestly… it was also a little fun. 😅
And in the middle of all of it, there was one thing we were very clear about:
The fig tree had to stay. 🌳
The fig tree had been resting alongside the indoor arena, and we told the workers they needed to save it and work around it.
Somehow, they did.
A tiny little reminder that even in the mess, not everything had to be lost. 🤍
Then came the cleanup.
Piece by piece, the broken parts were moved away. The construction debris was cleared, the metal was hauled out, and the space slowly started opening up again.
What had felt so overwhelming began to look a little more possible.
And then, finally, we saw it.
A clean slate. 🤍
No more collapsed indoor arena.
No more twisted metal.
No more giant question mark sitting in the middle of the farm.
Just open space.
And the beginning of what could come next.
