🐶💨 A**l Gland Expression 101
Yep… we’re talking about those glands. 💩😂
What are a**l glands?
A**l glands (or a**l sacs) are two small sacs that sit on either side of your dog’s a**s. They contain a strong-smelling fluid that normally gets released when your dog has a bowel movement.
Where are they located?
Think of the a**s like a clock 🕐 — the a**l glands are roughly located at the 4 and 8 o’clock positions.
How do you know there might be a problem? 👀
Keep an eye (and nose) out for:
• Scooting their butt across the floor
• Excessive licking or chewing around the area
• Redness or irritation
• A sudden, unpleasant smell that seems to stick around — even after a bath 🤢
Some dogs naturally need their a**l glands expressed, while others never have an issue. If your pup is showing signs of discomfort or you’re noticing that unmistakable smell, it may be time for a checkup.
